Job description

Yard Porter

The position of Yard Porter will be to drive vehicles and assist with ensuring vehicles are received in process, staged in the yard and labeled according to customer and internal requirements. Assist with updates on vehicle inventory, damage reporting on incoming vehicles, yard process flow and mis-shipped vehicles. This position must comply with company policies and procedures while adhering to OSHA regulations and current Health & Safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate customer vehicles.
  • Assist with receiving, labeling and properly staging all vehicles into the yard per customer and internal requirements.
  • Report any damage on incoming vehicles to yard lead.
  • Flag and stage mis-shipped vehicles per the instruction of the yard lead or production supervisor and customer requirements.
  • Stage vehicles based on chronological order (FIFO).
  • Keep the yard lead informed on any concerns with processing of the vehicles.
  • Assist with keeping the yard clean, orderly, and operating efficiently while adhering to all Company, Health & Safety and Yard Etiquette policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: A minimum of Grade 12 education or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience: Preferred, Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Perform work in a safe manner per the Company Health and Safety Policy and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
  • Alert yard lead of any problems or concerns relating to safety or yard flow issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain a valid US Driver's License.
  • Basic computer skills desired but will train as necessary.

Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing environment with no managerial assignments or responsibilities.
  • Continued exposure to weather elements, automotive vehicles, chemicals, robotics, industrial and manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs. with limited accommodations and flexible working positions as required.
  • Must comply with all Company policies, procedures and work instructions.
  • Personal Protective Equipment must be worn at all times while on the production floor.
