Compensation: $46,176/annually

Position Summary
The Grocery Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Department Manager in coordinating the regular functions of the Grocery Department at an assigned store location. This position is responsible for assisting with ordering and assuring appropriate inventory levels are maintained for the department. In addition, this position is responsible for supervising Grocery staff at the assigned store location. This supervision includes scheduling, evaluation and performance management of Grocery department employees. This position is a key member of a department where cooperation is required to maintain staff morale, efficiency, quality products and excellent customer service. Cooperation and communication with the Grocery Department at the other store location is vital to the success of the Grocery department as a whole. Occasionally, this position takes on additional duties in order to substitute for the Department Manager's absence, including direct interim supervision of department staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Previous supervisory experience, preferred
Ability to ascertain and anticipate department needs
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Ability to work under stressful conditions - tight deadlines
Efficient multi-tasking skills required
Flexibility and dependability required
Two years previous ordering experience required
Experience with financial management and budgeting skills for retail grocery preferred
Previous natural foods experience preferred
Able to prioritize and work independently
Excellent interpersonal skills required
Basic computer skills required for MS Word, Excel and Access
Ability to lift 50lbs.
Must be of legal age to sell alcohol (18 years)
