Job description

Turn raw metal into precision parts — join our team as a Grinding Operator

Got a sharp eye for detail and enjoy hands-on precision work? We're looking for a Grinding Operator to join our machining and finishing team. You'll take metal parts from rough to right-on-spec, using grinding equipment to hit exact dimensions and surface finishes on every piece. If you like the satisfaction of measuring twice, grinding once, and seeing your work pass inspection, we want to talk to you.

Whether you're an experienced grinder or coming in with solid mechanical aptitude and ready to learn, we'll support you in building real, transferable skills in a stable manufacturing environment.

What You'll Bring

Some know-how with grinding tools and equipment (surface, cylindrical, or bench grinders)

Comfort reading drawings and work instructions

A sharp eye for detail and pride in quality work

Basic understanding of materials and surface finishes

Good time management to keep pace with production schedules

A genuine commitment to safety and a clean, organized workspace

What You'll Be Doing

Running the Grind

Operate surface, cylindrical, or bench grinding equipment

Set up machines — wheel selection, dressing, and adjustments

Grind parts to spec on dimensions, tolerances, and finish

Monitor and fine-tune as you go to keep quality on target

Perform first-piece and in-process checks

Quality You Can Be Proud Of

Read blueprints, routings, and specs like a pro

Use micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify your work

Catch burrs, burns, or defects before they become a problem

Flag any non-conforming material to your supervisor or Quality

Keep parts identified and traceable through the process

Keeping Things Moving

Safely load/unload parts using proper technique or equipment

Keep your work area organized (5S habits welcome!)

Help keep production flowing and on schedule

Team up with other machining and finishing operators as needed

Safety First, Always

Follow safety policies, PPE requirements, and machine guarding standards

Do basic equipment checks and flag maintenance needs

Handle grinding wheels, coolants, and materials the right way

Join in on safety training and improvement initiatives

Nice to Have

High school diploma or equivalent

Previous grinding or machining experience

Basic machining-related math skills

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions confidently

The Physical Side

Some standing/walking on the production floor

Manual dexterity for handling tools, documents, and equipment

Ability to read detailed data, charts, and specs on screens and paper

Occasional lifting/carrying up to 20 lbs

This is a designated safety-sensitive position. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
