Job Title: ID Grinder
Location: Vernon, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:30am-3pm, open availability for overtime.

Position Summary
The ID Grinder is responsible for performing precision internal diameter grinding and supporting machining operations using manual conventional equipment. This role requires hands-on experience with ID grinding machines to repair and manufacture components to exact customer and engineering specifications.
Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate ID grinding machines (manual and/or CNC) to achieve tight tolerances and surface finishes
  • Grind, repair, and refurbish engineered equipment components
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and job travelers
  • Select appropriate tooling, grinding wheels, speeds, and feeds
  • Measure and inspect parts using precision instruments (micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, indicators, etc.)
  • Hold close tolerances (ยฑ0.0005" or better) and verify dimensional accuracy
  • Troubleshoot machining and grinding issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized manner
  • Follow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams

Machine Operators
  • Operate presses, CNC machines, mills, lathes, or other production equipment.
  • Risk of injury due to moving parts, pinch points, and high temperatures.
  • Requires constant attention to prevent serious accidents.
  • Move heavy or hazardous materials through production areas.
  • Work near other workers and tight aisles; require visibility and precision.
  • Use open flame or electrical arc processes (welding, cutting, grinding); risk of burns, sparks, or fume exposure.
  • Must maintain awareness and PPE compliance at all times.

Experience:
  • Machining: 1 year (Preferred)

Ability to Commute:
  • Vernon, CA 90058 (Preferred)

Required Qualifications
  • technical or apprenticeship training preferred
  • 2+ years of combined experience in:
  • ID grinding
  • Manual conventional machining (mills, lathes, VTLs)
  • Strong understanding of machining and grinding principles
  • Proven ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T
  • Experience working in a repair, job shop, or engineered equipment environment
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience machining large, heavy, or complex components
  • Familiarity with ISO or similar quality systems
  • Experience with a wide range of materials (carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless, and exotic alloys)
