The Control Room is the backbone of the Electric Operations group requiring individuals who like to be in the driver's seat and have their fingers on the pulse of the Transmission and Distribution networks. We are an industry leader in developing the electric control room of the future; integrating alternative energy sources, solar, wind, and battery; as well as integrating electric vehicles onto our distribution systems.

The Electric Control Room System Operator is a job family with expected progression from Associate Operator, Operator, Senior Operator and Lead Operator. Once hired, new Associate Operators will receive comprehensive classroom and onthe-job training to prepare for this role.

Key Accountabilities
  • The desire to learn and operate exciting new technologies
  • The ability to analyze problems while under stress is expected, and effective communication and teamwork is required, as Operators generally work together in groups of three or more.
  • Continuously monitor and operate the Transmission and Distribution systems to assure the highest level of safety, reliability, and customer service.
  • Receive and respond to high priority Police & Fire and customer calls as needed.
  • Utilize advanced applications to maintain the network within prescribed limits.
  • Analyze trouble orders, establish priorities, and dispatch personnel as required.
  • Issue switching orders or perform SCADA switching to alter the configuration of the network.
  • Direct emergency procedures to ensure the safety and reliability of the electrical system.
  • Be proactive in communicating with various stakeholders within the Company.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of control center logs and reports.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in applicable safety procedures.
  • This position requires high levels of attention to detail, motivation, and accountability.
  • Embrace a 12-hour rotating shift schedule at our Control Center (which creates opportunities for a more flexible lifestyle).
  • Flexibility to change schedule when needed during weather events and other emergencies is required to respond to our customer's needs.
  • Ability to work Overtime in support of company and customer needs.
Qualifications
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree, completion of technical schooling such as in the military, equivalent working experience with demonstrated understanding to operate the Transmission and Distribution system, or related analytical or technical experience will be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
  • Equivalent experience in an electric, gas utility environment or control room environment is a plus.
  • Maturity to make independent decisions and contribute to a team dynamic.
  • Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment aptitude assessment and a background check. Must have working knowledge of basic computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office suite).
  • Excellent written communication, oral communication, and inquiry resolution skills.
