Job description

Can you turn complex distribution work into safe, executable switching plans?

If you know your way around switching procedures, safety tagging, and clearances—and you enjoy partnering with a Control Center—this onsite, 12‑month contract is for you. You’ll coordinate distribution switching across the NSP service territory, ensuring every step follows established protocols and supports reliable operations.

What you will do
  • Author switching requests and detailed switch plans for distribution grid work.
  • Align switching activities with the Control Center and field operations teams.
  • Translate upcoming work schedules into sequenced plans for maintenance and operations.
  • Verify all plans meet safety requirements, tagging practices, and clearance procedures.
  • Route plans for review, integrate feedback, and secure approvals.
  • Schedule and coordinate execution with internal stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Control Center questions and clarifications.
  • Collaborate with Grid Operations, Outage Coordination, and other groups to enable safe, efficient system performance.
What you bring
  • 5+ years of utility field experience (Lineman, Troubleman, or equivalent).
  • Background in a DSOG or similar operating environment.
  • Experience supporting distribution operations, including switching or outage coordination.
  • Familiarity with Oracle NMS.
  • Knowledge of switching procedures, safety tagging, clearance processes, and grid operations.
  • Basic engineering/electrical theory.
