Job description

Position Summary: Assists in protection of GRHC property, employees, patients and visitors against assault, theft, vandalism, fire and other hazards. Conducts frequent patrols of the GRHC facilities as necessary and remains constantly alert to any and all activities which violate facility rules or regulations, taking the necessary action to prevent or stop these infractions. Performs thorough investigations into all potential threats and violations while adhering to all GRHC policies and procedures.
Critical Tasks:
  • Controls access to specific areas of a facility and enforces property rules and regulations.
  • Recognizes safety and security hazards on campus and takes appropriate corrective actions.
  • Performs regular patrols of the entire facility to facilitate a strong security presence focused on the safety of patients, staff, providers, and visitors.
  • Investigates security violations, incidents, and insider threat concerns to prepare reports appropriately.
  • Contributes to efficient operations by assisting with coordinating activities, prioritizing workflow and promoting decision-making and problem solving.
  • Preemptively identifies risky situations such as fire and life safety hazards and performs necessary corrective action.
  • Completes regular safety inspections to determine hazards, confirm room vacancy, and identify any suspicious individuals.
  • Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and apprehends or expels persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
  • Responds quickly to all emergency situations and notifies law enforcement when appropriate.
  • Performs administrative duties, such as answering phone calls, as requested.
  • Answers questions of patients, residents, staff and visitors accurately.
  • Maintains accurate log of all activities and actions taken.
  • Performs other job-related activities as requested.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous security experience preferred.
  • Defensive tactics systems training preferred.
  • Current and valid State of Arizona Driver's license.
  • Current and valid International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) basic certification or ability to obtain the certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Current and valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Employment at the Caring House requires: AZ Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card within 60 days in position.
