Central Maine Healthcare is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving 400,000 people living in central, western and Midcoastal Maine. CMH's hospital facilities include Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital. CMH also supports Central Maine Medical Group, a primary and specialty care practice organization. Other system services include the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute, a regional trauma program, LifeFlight of Maine's southern Maine base, the Central Maine Comprehensive Cancer Center and other high-quality clinical services.

Responsibilities

The Environmental Services Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness within the hospital and adjacent buildings, which may require traveling from one facility to another without assistance. Complete assigned projects (Stripping/ waxing / refinishing of hard surface Flooring, Carpet Extracting /  Bonnet Buffing, Restorative scrub Ceramic tile). Work individually and also in a team environment, complete other tasks as assigned.  Respond to and initiate communication by phone, handheld radios, pagers etc.

Under the general supervision of the EVS Director/Manager/Supervisor/Lead, duties include but are not limited to: Floor Scrubbing/stripping, refinishing, carpet shampooing, carpet extraction, cleaning floor corners/edges/baseboards, removing trash, floor buffing, floor burnishing, elevator track cleaning, other floor and carpet maintenance, Upholstery cleaning, conference room set ups, stairwell cleaning, in all assigned areas of the hospital using standard cleaning procedures and chemicals. The EVS Floor Tech will actively participate in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all, while implementing the principles of the organization

         Performs routine cleaning of the floors on the assigned facility in a neat and sanitary manner.

         Mops, a sweeps, scrubs, and strips floor, applies floor sealers and finishes.

         Full vacuuming will be required in traffic areas and any visible debris on carpets.

         Spot clean carpets as needed, utilizing extraction and bonneting methods.

         Maintain hard floors with no build up in corners and provide dust mop.

         Polish floor using buffing products to restore shine high gloss and uniform appearance to the traffic areas.

         Must maintain and keep equipment clean and in good operational conditions.

         Secures the work area with all Safety Signs.

         Reports safety hazards as appropriate.

         Locks and unlocks doors and windows to offices and other rooms as necessary. Turns off lights when rooms are unoccupied.

         Works day, evening or night shift as assigned.

         Must do work on his/her own with normal supervision.

         Observes safety precautions at all times.

         Perform related work as directed.

         At the end of the shift equipment must be left clean and ready to use including cleaning materials

Qualifications
  • One (1) year of knowledge within acute care hospital environmental service techniques, practices and procedures required. Preferred two years of Floor Tech experience in a healthcare setting.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Must be able to read, understand and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
  • Apply common sense understanding to follow instructions that were provided.
  • Must be able to communicate and understand English.
