Local CDL-A Operator

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Local CDL-A Operator you are essential to the daily operations of Green Transportation. In this role you will safely operate a tractor-trailer, make regular and frequent trips and deliveries to our customers while upholding the standard of excellence that Green Transportation carries.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Safely and professionally operating a Class A commercial motor vehicle

  • Following guidelines issued by the FMCSA and DOT in accordance with rules and regulations surrounding safe and compliant operation of a commercial motor vehicle

  • Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of your vehicle and equipment to ensure proper and legal working order, notifying the maintenance department if any issues need to be addressed

  • Planning your trip and routing as advised by your Road Pilot Reference guide and provided manifest information for each trip

  • Communicating with dispatch on a consistent basis via email and phone as to provide updates on your load status, location, and any other requested information

  • Contacting external business partners to coordinate safe and proper procedures of loading and unloading the vehicle

  • Inspecting freight upon departure, arrival, and delivery as well as monitoring and/or assisting in the removal of freight to the tail of the trailer as needed

  • Maintaining procedural paperwork of daily duties ie. bills of lading and proof of delivery paperwork, maintaining your trip-sheet information and collecting fuel receipts

  • When adverse conditions occur or may occur, maintain contact with dispatch and operations as to receive guidance on next steps

  • Safely unload freight both palletized and non-palletized whether assisted or unassisted as necessary

  • Follow instructions/guidance of upper management regardless of personal opinions or beliefs

  • Serve as a great example of the Green Culture by understanding, and consistently following, and maintaining the policies and procedures of Green Transportation

  • Must demonstrate the ability to be discrete, prompt and professional

  • Communicate effectively with team members

  • Experience filling out and retaining BOL’s and POD’s

  • Support Green Transportation’s values, principles, vision, and mission

  • Other duties as may be assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid CDL-A with 2 years of verifiable DOT CDL-A Tractor-Trailer driving experience

  • Must be able to support the Green Transportation culture with a focus on teamwork and a commitment to service

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • US Citizenship required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Transportation and Logistics

  • Knowledge of FMCSA rules and regulations

  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and guidelines

COMMUNICATION

  • Effectively and regularly communicate with the Green Transportation Operations Manager and Operations Supervisor

  • Support Green Transportation’s values, principles, vision, and mission

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lift up to 50lbs frequently to occasionally

  • Load and manipulate rolling carts carrying up to 150 lbs frequently

  • Load and manipulate manual pallet jacks with palletized freight frequently

  • Stand/walk/drive up to 14 hours per day

  • Bend and Twist frequently

  • Reach/work above shoulders frequently

  • Fine manipulations frequently

  • Gross manipulation frequently

  • Push/pull frequently

  • Operate a tractor-trailer

PAY RATE & SCHEDULE

$28-$30/hour based on verifiable experience.

RELOCATION

Relocation expenses are not provided, must be able to commute to Holland, Michigan terminal frequently.
