Job description
The Coordinator of Student Outreach and Organizational Engagement is responsible for the organization, administration and leadership of the Office of Student Outreach and Organizational Engagement activities at The University of Findlay as part of the Buford Center for Diversity & Service. The coordinator will set operational objectives and successful standards in consultation with the Senior Director while increasing visibility of processes & securing cost saving solutions for the University. Additional responsibilities include program coordination; overseeing and advising student organizations; overseeing and advising Greek Life, management of resources; student engagement; promoting and facilitating resources to students who are in need in a multitude of ways. The person holding this position is required to live in an assigned University house in order to carry out the duties associated with this position, and may serve as an Administrator on Duty as needed.
Essential Functions
This position requires regular, predictable, reliable attendance in the office environment.
Administrative
1. Administer student organization and Greek Life policies and procedures.
2. Administer budget lines and costs associated with projects, programs, and resources for students in need.
3. Maintain on-going communication and collaboration with the Senior Director of Campus, Community, and Global Engagement to ensure appropriate information sharing, proper planning for training sessions and meetings, better service to students, and timely follow-up on issues that may impact students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community/national partners.
4. Maintain an annual calendar of campus programs, Greek Life meetings, and applicable deadlines for student organizations and Greek Life.
5. Provide the Business Office and Sodexo with information needed to ensure the proper procedures for students who qualify for Swipe Out Hunger or other financial assistance is adjusted on their financial accounts.
6. Assist the Senior Director in collecting comprehensive data demonstrating increased involvement and participation in student organization functions, activity, programming and attendance at events.
7. Assist with preparing annual operating budgets as requested.
8. Develop marketing strategies to promote student organization and Greek Life information and, events.
9. Develop marketing strategies to promote student resources available to students in need through the Buford Center for Campus, Community, and Global Engagement.
10. Conduct student organization and Greek Life focus groups on a regular basis to gather input about programming, event attendance and better opportunities to serve and assist student organizations and Greek Life.
11. Research, recommend and coordinate the implementation of new opportunities for students to become engaged and active on campus. As well as other opportunities and resources for students in need.
12. Actively seek funding opportunities to assist the University of Findlay in offsetting the costs to resources to students who are in need of assistance.
13. Supervise the Pantry and the student employees.
14. Assist with communicating policies and procedures to student organizations and faculty/staff advisors.
15. Assist with development of policies and procedures as needed.
16. Monitor bulletin boards in AMU.
17. Aid students, advisors and community members in obtaining assistance from other University of Findlay Offices.
18. In conjunction with the Business Office Assist UF departments and student organizations with contract and rider trainings &/or negotiations.
19. Provide programmatic support when/where feasible to other operating units within Student Affairs in order to ensure successful delivery.
Student Organizations and Greek Life
Advise the Greek Life Leadership Team and provide trainings as needed.
Serve as the primary advisor for Greek Council, PanHellenic Council, and Inter-Fraternity Council, as appropriate.
Foster and maintain a positive working relationship with student organization leaders and advisors.
Attend Greek Life meetings and organized events.
Accept applications and determine, who attends conferences on behalf of the Buford Center.
Attend the National Association for College Activities (N.A.C.A.) or Association for the Promotion of College Activities (A.P.C.A) each semester, barring no University of Findlay conflicts.
Prior to attending "booking" conferences, coordinate venue availability/dates available and request "holds" with Facilities Office.
Attend/coordinate students' attending APCA Summer Leadership Conference as schedule permits.
Encourage student organization and Greek Life compliance with University of Findlay regulations in contracts and riders.
Negotiate, finalize fees, issue cover letter, UF contract, rider, W-9 to Agent/artist(s).
Negotiate and review outside agency/entertainer's contracts, in compliance with policies set by the university Business Affairs Office.
Ensure artist's compliance with University of Findlay contract, rider, and regulations.
Programming and Student Development
1. Assist students interested in creating and producing new community collaborative programming by providing them University of Findlay contacts for proposal approval, and community contacts for coordinating and facilitating meetings.
2. Collaborate with other University of Findlay offices and community organizations to host specialized student educational programming. These efforts include: development of interpersonal skills, educational, cultural, social, spiritual, and recreational programs consistent with the philosophy of the University of Findlay.
3. Schedule meetings/trainings with any student or advisor, as needed, regarding how to organize/advertise, recruit for programming events.
4. Assist with assessing the needs of interest groups and student organizations upon request.
5. Chair the Student Organization Fair.
6. Coordinate/organize Welcome Week programming in conjunction with other UF departments, SGA & SAB.
7. Perform all other duties deemed appropriate for this position.
8. Actively participate in Buford Center staff decision-making processes as well as decision-making within the Division of Student Affairs.
9. Participate in division-wide and University committees as requested.
10. Attend at least one professional conference per year when possible.
11. Incorporate belonging exercises into meetings and activities with students.
12. Expect continual and periodic evaluation from the Buford Center.
13. Perform related duties as assigned by the Buford Center, or Student Affairs.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area travel may be expected. Supporting international service projects may require international travel as well. Passport will be required. A valid US Drivers' license with a safe driving record is required.
Required Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree required.
2. Minimum of 1-3 years' work experience in a program development or community service-oriented setting.
3. Knowledge of, and experience, with identifying, fostering, and maintaining community networks, general business practices, green-initiatives, crisis management, web page design/creation, and college student characteristics.
4. Familiarity with MS Office applications
