Job description

Engineering Technician III
Location: Santa Rosa, CA
Employment Type: Full-Time, Regular Hourly

Position Overview
A leading medical device manufacturer is seeking an experienced Engineering Technician III to develop and implement efficient, cost-effective manufacturing processes in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. This role supports both automated and manual assembly and molding systems while driving process improvements, equipment optimization, and production efficiency.

Shift Openings
Graveyard Shift: Monday–Friday, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • $3.00/hour shift differential
Essential Responsibilities
  • Support Engineering by building automated equipment according to design specifications
  • Perform equipment validation to support internal and external customers
  • Ensure seamless operation of complex production equipment within validated processes
  • Serve as subject matter expert for equipment operation and adjustments
  • Recommend and implement process improvements, design changes, automation, and equipment upgrades
  • Provide technical support to improve productivity, quality, and operational efficiency
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and fabricate production equipment including welding, cutting, and assembly
  • Create clear and effective work instructions for end users
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and develop solutions to improve cost, safety, quality, and productivity
  • Test and evaluate machinery for improved manufacturing methods
  • Document custom equipment and modifications
  • Support installation and qualification of standard and custom equipment
  • Implement corrective actions and update processes as needed
  • Provide support to additional departments as required
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 5 years of technician experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment
  • Experience with automated and semi-automated assembly systems required
  • Experience working with tightly controlled manufacturing processes
  • ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 experience preferred
Technical Experience
Hands-on experience with:
  • Electrical and electronic systems
  • Mechanical assembly systems
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • PLC and CNC-controlled equipment
  • Automated production systems
Tool Proficiency
Strong experience using:
  • Wrenches / sockets
  • Screwdrivers / Allen wrenches
  • Multimeters / ammeters
  • Wire strippers
  • Other common diagnostic and repair tools
Preferred Skills
  • PLC troubleshooting
  • Relay logic
  • Mechanical system analysis
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action
  • Strong judgment and problem-solving ability
  • Effective communication across all organizational levels
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAD, ERP systems, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Medical device manufacturing experience
  • Lean manufacturing / continuous improvement experience
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, and lifting
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Exposure to machine shop hazards and manufacturing environments
  • Occasional computer-based documentation and reporting
