This role oversees a highvolume, fastpaced print production department, managing all aspects of internal printshop operations, external vendor workflows, and the inhouse team of designers responsible for bringing creative concepts to life. The position leads the development and execution of a wide range of printed materials-including creative label designs, IFCs, brochures, instore displays, and other brand assets-ensuring every piece is visually compelling, consistent, and aligned with brand strategy. With strong creative vision and exceptional projectmanagement skills, this leader directs numerous concurrent projects from concept through final production, maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and quality across all outputs. The role fosters a collaborative, innovative environment within both the design and production teams, driving excellence in creative execution, print quality, and workflow performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all daily operations of a highvolume printing department, managing both internal printshop production and external vendor workflows to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional output quality.
  • Lead the full lifecycle of label design and production-including new designs, updates, compliance changes, and templating-ensuring all labels remain consistent, wellbranded, and scalable across multiple product lines.
  • Manage a large volume of simultaneous print, label, and packaging projects, demonstrating strong projectmanagement skills in prioritization, scheduling, resource allocation, and issue resolution.
  • Develop and maintain structured workflows, tracking systems, and process improvements that support speed, consistency, and highvolume throughput.
  • Supervise and mentor both the design team and printshop employees, providing clear direction, performance management, coaching, and daytoday operational leadership.
  • Create and refine packaging and label designs that uphold brand values, maximize shelf presence, and support consumer engagement.
  • Collaborate with creative, marketing, production, regulatory, and product teams to ensure all printed materials meet brand, compliance, functional, and marketing requirements.
  • Oversee all prepress activities-including proofing, color accuracy, file preparation, and vendorready deliverables-to guarantee flawless print execution at scale.
  • Evaluate and refine print specifications, substrates, finishes, and production techniques to achieve optimal quality, costefficiency, and speed.
  • Maintain and continuously optimize label and packaging templates to ensure uniformity, rapid updates, and streamlined highvolume production.
  • Build and manage detailed production schedules, timelines, and traffic flows, ensuring ontime delivery across all concurrent initiatives.
  • Uphold brand standards and packaging guidelines across every printed touchpoint, reinforcing consistency and excellence.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends with printing technology, materials, packaging innovations, workflow software, and efficiencyenhancing tools relevant to highvolume production environments.
  • Develop compelling visual concepts and packaging directions for product launches, campaigns, and seasonal programs.
  • Present creative and production recommendations to stakeholders, clearly explaining design rationale, workflow impacts, and final execution approaches.
  • Build strong, solutionoriented relationships with external print vendors, overseeing capacity planning, quality control, proof approval, and troubleshooting.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Graphics Design, Visual Arts, or Packaging Design
  • Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in graphic design, art direction, packaging and branding for CPG products in the health and wellness space.
  • Deep understanding of print processes (digital, offset, largeformat), substrates, color management, prepress, proofing, and finishing techniques.
  • Strong background in creative label design, layout, typography, and brandforward storytelling.
  • Experience developing brochures, IFCs, instore displays, and other consumerfacing printed materials.
  • Ability to guide the visual direction of print materials while maintaining brand integrity and consistency.
  • Ability to manage highvolume, fastturn print workflows with precision and quality control.
  • Proven ability to oversee multiple concurrent projects with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Strong scheduling, trafficking, resource management, and workflow optimization skills.
  • Ability to build structure, maintain timelines, and proactively problemsolve in a fastpaced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail across copy, color, layout, and production specs.
  • Proven ability to lead and support a diverse team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and high performance across all daytoday operations.

Required Skills:
