Job description

JOB SUMMARY

Cresco Labs is seeking a Mid-Level Graphic Designer to join our growing in-house creative team, The HotBox, in Chicago, IL. The HotBox leads B2B and B2C creative across key channels including In-Store, Ecommerce, Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Rewards, Social, and Internal Initiatives. 

The Mid-Level Graphic Designer independently owns the execution of a variety of print and digital deliverables for both retail and wholesale brands. Responsibilities include leading the development of web assets, email campaigns, social media content, in-store signage, sales materials, event graphics, internal communications, and branded merchandise. This role requires strong design fundamentals, strategic application of brand standards, and the ability to manage multiple high-volume initiatives with minimal oversight. 

In this position, you will collaborate cross-functionally and contribute to creative problem-solving across initiatives that strengthen Cresco's national presence. The Mid-Level Graphic Designer reports to a Senior Graphic Designer and directly manages a Junior Graphic Designer, providing guidance and support while continuing to elevate creative output. 

CORE JOB DUTIES 

  • Independently own design projects from brief through final execution. 
  • Translate complex briefs into strategic visual solutions aligned with business objectives. 
  • Develop multiple creative directions when appropriate to support campaign needs. 
  • Manage high-volume retail and wholesale deliverables with minimal oversight. 
  • Engage directly in kickoff discussions to clarify scope, audience, and messaging. 
  • Ensure creative aligns with brand standards across multiple states and formats. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve templates, workflows, and scalable design systems. 
  • Provide feedback and guidance to Junior Designers. 
  • Balance speed and quality while maintaining strong design rationale. 
  • Proactively flag risks, timeline concerns, or creative gaps before escalation. 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS  

  • 3-5 years professional design experience (in-house or agency). 
  • Portfolio demonstrating independent project ownership and strategic thinking. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite with ability to execute efficiently with minimal oversight. 
  • Demonstrated ability to design across print and digital channels with strategic consistency. 
  • Strong command of visual systems and ability to apply brand standards strategically. 
  • Solid understanding of production standards and building files to spec. 
  • After Effects experience; ability to support light motion or animation needs. 
  • Familiarity with light retouching and color correction. 
  • Experience with art direction processes and concept development is preferred. 
  • Ability to manage priorities independently while maintaining quality and accuracy. 
  • Strong communication skills; confidently presents and defends design rationale. 
  • Demonstrates professional maturity and peer-level influence. 
  • Passion for the cannabis industry and commitment to brand integrity.
