Job description

Company Description PortoVino is a national importer and distributor of fine wines sourced from distinctive terroirs in France and Italy. The company focuses on authentic wineries that farm responsibly and follow minimal-intervention practices in both vineyard and cellar. With offices in the United States, Italy, and France, PortoVino is positioned to discover and import unique, offbeat wines from various regions and grape varieties. Team members join a culture that values integrity, sustainability, and a carefully curated portfolio of “wines of place.” This environment offers wine professionals the opportunity to work closely with exceptional producers and compelling products.

Role Description The Houston Market Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX, responsible for growing PortoVino’s presence and sales in the local market. Day-to-day tasks include visiting on- and off-premise accounts, presenting the portfolio, conducting tastings, and nurturing relationships with customers and key decision makers. The role involves monitoring competitor activity, analyzing local trends, and identifying new market opportunities for PortoVino’s Italian and French wines. This position also requires maintaining accurate records of account activity, meeting sales targets, and representing the brand at industry functions and trade tastings.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills to present wines effectively, build relationships with buyers, and collaborate with internal teams.
  • Candidates should possess high-quality Customer Service skills to ensure positive experiences for accounts and support long-term partnerships.
  • Knowledge of French and Italian wines, appellations, and producers, with a passion for authentic, terroir-driven wines is a plus
  • Proven experience in wine sales, distribution, or hospitality; existing relationships in the Houston market are highly beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently in the field, manage time effectively, and meet or exceed sales goals.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to lift and transport cases of wine as needed.
