What you will do
We are seeking a post-doctoral research /associate scientist with a focus on quantitative data management and analysis to join our team in a full time permanent position. Under the Deputy Director, Institute for Quality, you will, conduct literature reviews and syntheses, develop research questions to interrogate through CVNs archival and/or prospective data collection mechanisms and methods and will identify and pursue grant funding opportunities to expand and enhance our research portfolio and impact on the field. You will also support internal operations research and quality improvement projects, optimizing clinical care and organizational processes to ensure CVN remains a learning mental health network and advancing the field.
Specifically, you will:
  • Conceptualize proposed research projects based on subject matter knowledge, experience and critical evaluation of existing evidence including the peer reviewed literature
  • Develop and apply a range of analytic techniques and methodologies and research designs; conduct and present analyses of archival and prospective data
    • Conduct EHR-based data extraction, transformation, and analysis using SQL and R and/or Python
    • Support operational analytics needs across clinical programs (e.g., outcomes tracking, measurement-based care, program evaluation)
    • Build reproducible data pipelines and analytic workflows
    • Collaborate with clinical, operational, and data engineering teams to ensure data quality and usability
    • Apply research, data analytic tools, and methodologies to address and resolve clinical and operational challenges/problems in conjunction with the IQ team, other departments and CVN leadership.
    • Support program evaluation efforts and operational projects and studies
  • Translate complex findings into actionable insights for scientific and non-technical audiences
  • Work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team to support internal research initiatives, research grants, CVN's Scientific Advisory Board, and cross-collaboration between CVN-IQ and other departments and clinics in the network
  • Assist in development, review and submission of grant application, research proposals, IRB protocols.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties or other projects assigned.

What's required
  • Doctorate, (PhD) in a clinical psychology or related clinical/social science field
  • 5-7 years' experience (includes doctoral training) in a research institute or academic setting
  • Subject matter knowledge or expertise in clinical or experimental psychology or related field
  • Knowledge and skill in data management, cleaning and analytic procedures and approaches.
  • Substantial knowledge of social science research methodologies and design including theoretical models, and major paradigms, i.e., qual/quant, mixed, survey, longitudinal, cross sectional.
  • Ability to conceptualize, plan and conduct research studies as part of a team or with moderate support including an ability to design sampling strategies and study protocols and data analytic plans.
  • History of publication in scholarly/peer reviewed journals.
  • Adept at using technology including Excel, Word and PowerPoint and familiarity with online grant application portals and applications. Smartsheet experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to write effectively and professionally for academic and scientific reviewers and review panels
  • Experience with human subjects protections/IRB protocols and processes
  • Excellent organizational, communication and coordination skills
  • Commitment to the highest ethical standards

The annual base salary range for this role is $77,504 - $95,837(USD), which does not include discretionary annual bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
This position requires limited access to Protected Health Information (PHI) to carry out identified job responsibilities. The type of PHI to which this position will have access, and any conditions on such access must be approved and documented prior to receiving such access.
