SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Grants Coordinator supports the management of grant programming by overseeing daily grant operations, including assisting with applications, managing budgets, coordinating with schools and departments and monitoring grant implementation. The role ensures funds are used appropriately, supports data collection and reporting and manages equitable services for private schools under federal funding.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Grant Development & Compliance
  • Collaborates with departments, schools, charter schools and non-public private schools in developing grant applications and grant budgets specific to federal, state, and private grants.
  • Applies knowledge of state and federal grant requirements to ensure programs and costs are allowable under the state/federal grant.
  • Assists in writing grant applications, developing grant narratives and budgets.
  • Collaborates with District staff to coordinate data collection to assist with preparing grant applications and end-of-year federal and state grant evaluations.

Grant Management & Implementation
  • Provides day-to-day grant management of all departments, and non-public private schools receiving federal grant funding, including regular planned meetings, assisting with writing grant applications, monitoring grant implementation, grants management and monitoring and revising budgets as needed.
  • Provides day-to-day management of grants, including regular meetings with schools and departments.
  • Collaborates with department administrators to troubleshoot barriers they may experience that prohibit implementing their grant plan.
  • Assists with monitoring the implementation of grants and monitoring and revising grant budgets.
  • Collaborates with schools and departments to ensure grant budgets are spent appropriately and in a timely manner to help carry out the objectives of the grant.nsures project budget integrity

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborates with the Grants Department to execute grant programming.
  • Collaborates with the Evaluation Department in the areas of data collection and evaluation.
  • Collaborates with Nevada Department of Education (NDE) federal program staff regarding communicating successes, challenges, and dissemination of information on program activities and progress.
  • Collaborates with community partners when necessary, to include private foundations that may provide grant funding, donations, and/or gifts to the school district.

Support, Evaluation & Program Oversight
  • Provides leadership for developing appropriate models for individual non-public private schools.
  • Reviews and analyzes evaluation data.
  • Manages the non-public private school equitable services process for federal funding.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be:
Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in writing/communication/journalism, business, education, grants management, or related field required.
Experience: Two (2) years of grants management experience required, including working with multi-grantees, understanding grant compliance, supporting state, federal or community grants, and budgeting. Experience working in a K-12 education setting preferred.
Licenses/Certificates: None.

Salaries are subject to adjustment and may increase and decrease each fiscal year. New employees hired by Washoe County School District are normally placed on the entry step of the grade of the position. View the salary schedules here.

Benefit packages are available for all employees, eligible employees who are regularly scheduled to work 27.5 hours per week or more receive full benefits of the District which include but are not limited to;

New employees will be fingerprinted upon hire and every five years thereafter and will have $58.50 deducted from their first paycheck to help defray the cost of fingerprinting. Non-licensed employees will have $58.50 deduction when their fingerprints are completed every five years. Fingerprint fees are subject to change.
The job offer is conditional until a report is returned from the FBI and Nevada Department of Public Safety that meets the standards of WCSD for employment purposes.
