Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose of Position:
Under direction of the Director of Grants Development and Management, participates and assists in developing and administering the program for securing grant support for various System programs from public and private sector funding sources. Assists the Director or designee in coordinating and evaluating procedures and systems for grant activity within designated areas of responsibility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assists the Director in assuring that programs are developed and monitored in compliance with all governmental regulations (Federal, State, City), NYC Health + Hospitals policies and standards of good health care practices.
2. Writes and prepares grants for submission to potential funding sources, according to specifications and within required timeframes.
3. Serves as a health care resource for System and health care setting personnel to provide technical and professional assistance in health care components of grant funded programs and research activities.
4. Supervises and trains staff as assigned by Director. Monitors work in progress.
5. Develops strategies and alternative approaches for improvement of specified grant funded health care programs and assists Director in assessing existing resources and priorities.
6. Conducts meetings and conferences as a representative of the Director and acts for the Director in relation with other units, auditors (City, State, Federal) and outside agencies and entities.
7. Assists in developing department objectives and methods of implementation.
8. Supervises development of criteria for grant review and provides staff service to committees concerned with grant review process.
9. Compiles periodic reports and undertakes special projects, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
*1. Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Public or Business Administration or a related discipline and 3 (three) years of progressively responsible experience in areas relating to public administration and/or health care planning and administration, grant writing and work related to grants management and development within these fields.
2. Master's degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed

  • Working understanding of federal and state healthcare initiatives and regulations
  • Budget development, financial modeling and projections, tracking and monitoring initiatives

  • Advanced analytic and technical reporting capabilities
  • Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines and the stress of undertaking multiple projects at one time
