Job Description
A Team Coach Supervisor serves as the main point of contact for a level of climbing team, and as such must be goal-oriented, able to multitask, innovative, possess good time management skills, and be passionate about helping coaches and young climbers achieve their expression of success. They partner with the Youth Team Manager (Head Coach), Assistant Team Manager, and Coaches to plan and execute programming that results in transformative experiences for youth athletes and teaches life skills through sport climbing. As with all managers, they are expected to embody Movement's mission and core values, as well as leading by example for their staff.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • "Culture Keeper" for their team level and ensure team activities promote our core values.
  • Monitor and support the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of the coaching team and athletes. Demonstrate empathy and compassion to develop meaningful relationships and support transformative experiences with coaches and athletes.
  • Work with Head Coach to build season schedule for this level of team including parent meetings, competitions, training camps, and events
  • Point person for planning and running daily practices, accomplished by collaborating with Coaches
  • Coach at all/majority of practices of this level of team and attend all extra-curricular events and competitions
  • Effectively communicate any issues or concerns with parents, coaching staff and the Gym Leadership team in a timely manner.
  • Provide supervision for youth climbers who will be bouldering, lead climbing, and belaying.
  • Support with monitoring and quality control of programs including responsibility to support performance reviews for your assistant coaches
  • Hold accountability for actions, including safety and risk management procedures, ensuring they are upheld by guests, athletes and coaches alike
  • Assist Head Coach with administrative duties for this team level, including monitoring team rosters, team applications and tryouts, tracking belay training, organizing practice notes, and communicating with parents.
  • Inspire coaching team by partnering with Head Coach to facilitate mentorship opportunities and professional development of Assistant Coaches.
  • With Head Coach support may be responsible for set up and running of tryouts, training camps, and/or other events for the team.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong coach personality, and ability to be the "heart" of that team level
  • Embody Movement Core Values and the desired culture of our youth team
  • Display a passion for developing youth athletes and climbing coaches
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with athletes, coaches, parents, and gym leadership.
  • Ability to stay organized and efficient in completing administrative duties
  • Solid computer skills (web-based applications, Word, Excel, POS applications)
  • Knowledge and experience in climbing instruction commensurate with the team level being coached
  • Strong climbing and training background, sport lead climbing experience required
  • Ability to climb V5 or 5.12- is preferred but not required
  • Experience, training, or coursework in sports science, strength and conditioning, kinesiology or related field preferred.
  • Ability to work most Saturdays and at least one other weekday evening shift between 4:00PM and 8:00PM.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This position is a Part Time (approx. 20 hours/week), non-exempt position, including gym membership, gear discounts, guest passes, and other benefits available to Movement employees. This role has the potential to become a Full-Time role combined with other positions in the gym.
Starting pay range is $22 - $24 with flexibility depending on experience.
