Seasonal Grain Scale Operator
The Seasonal Grain Scale Operator plays a critical role in efficiently processing inbound and outbound grain loads during the busy harvest season. This position is responsible for accurately weighing, sampling, grading, and documenting grain transactions while providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide seasonal support in operating grain elevator scales during the harvest season (September through December).
  • Weigh all inbound and outbound grain loads and accurately generate scale tickets.
  • Weigh non-grain trucks and other vehicles as required by the location.
  • Collect grain samples and accurately grade grain according to established standards.
  • Apply applicable discounts for moisture, foreign material, damage, vomitoxin, and other quality factors.
  • Deliver a high level of customer service by being courteous, knowledgeable, and responsive to customer needs.
  • Answer customer inquiries promptly and accurately.
  • Manage incoming telephone calls and direct them to the appropriate team members as needed.
  • Communicate customer concerns, service issues, and operational challenges to management in a timely manner.
  • Partner with Grain Originators and other team members to provide an exceptional customer experience.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration across departments and locations when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to grain transactions.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with company standards.
  • Understand, follow, and promote all company safety policies and procedures.
