Job Title: Graduate Student Employee Biweekly - Tutoring Center Graduate Assistant

Job Classification: Graduate Student Employee Biweekly

Work Schedule: Minimum 15 hours a week, preference for 20 hours a week

Pay Rate: 15.00 per hr

Job Description:

We are looking for two highly organized candidates with an excellent academic track record for the position of graduate assistant. Graduate assistants are responsible for organizing professional development events, supervising tutors, assisting with check-ins and check-outs for each week, data tracking and analysis, updating website and marketing initiatives, providing guidance on department resources in person, via phone call, or email, among other duties.

Graduate assistants will need to periodically represent the Tutoring Center in trainings and meetings, requiring a demonstrated history of leadership positions.


Responsibilities:  

  • Assisting supervisor with various administrative tasks.  
  • Organizing professional development events per semester.  
  • Conducting various research and analyzing data.  
  • Ability to use multiple data platforms such as Canvas, Navigate, Ignite, Tutoring Database, YouTube, Microsoft Office Suite, and GroupMe.
  • Co-authoring tutoring reports, spreadsheets, and forms with their supervisor.  
  • Hosting Tutoring Center tables at orientation and other campus events.  
  • Assisting with canvas course and tutor training.  
  • Collecting timesheets and confirming hours recorded.  
  • Conducting tutor team meetings.  
  • Supervising tutors and assisting with check-ins and check-outs for each week.  
  • Engaging tutors in group activities such as Tutor of the Month, celebration of graduating seniors, and other tutor events.  
  • Assisting with the management of the social media account.  
  • Assisting with Tutoring Center emails and phone calls in a professional manner.
  • Oversight of the front desk.

Requirements:  

  • Registered and enrolled in a graduate degree.  
  • Good academic record with a minimum GPA of 3.0.  
  • Experience with student workers and leadership positions.  
  • Excellent organizational skills.  
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.  
  • Good written and verbal communication.  
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients.  
  • Perform business operations duties for assigned area of responsibility.  
  • Ability to prioritize and take initiative.  
  • Ability to comply with university and departmental policies.  
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.  
  • Skills within virtual platforms (Zoom and TEAMS).
  • Basic computer literacy.
