Graduate information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Graduate in the workforce, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Graduate entering the workforce, you generally need a relevant academic degree, foundational knowledge in your field, and some practical experience such as internships. Familiarity with productivity tools like Microsoft Office, collaboration platforms, and basic industry-specific software is often expected. Strong communication, adaptability, and a willingness to learn help graduates stand out among peers. These skills enable graduates to quickly integrate, contribute effectively, and progress in their chosen career paths.

What types of entry-level projects or responsibilities can I expect as a recent graduate in my first professional role?

As a recent graduate, you can typically expect to be assigned tasks that help you develop industry-specific skills while contributing to the team’s objectives. These may include assisting with research, data analysis, report preparation, or supporting project teams with administrative and operational duties. Often, you'll be given the chance to shadow experienced colleagues and participate in training sessions to accelerate your learning. Early responsibilities are designed to build your confidence and help you understand the company’s processes, with increasing responsibility as you demonstrate competence.

What are graduates?

Graduates are individuals who have successfully completed a degree program at a college or university, typically earning a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree. They are often entering the workforce for the first time in their field of study or pursuing further education. Graduates may seek entry-level positions, internships, or graduate schemes to begin their professional careers and gain practical experience. Their skills and qualifications can vary depending on their course of study and level of education.
