Career Manager, College of Engineering

The College of Engineering is seeking a dynamic and relationship-focused Career Manager to help students transform their education into meaningful careers and graduate school opportunities. This highly collaborative role combines career coaching, employer engagement, strategic partnership development, and student mentorship to create exceptional outcomes for undergraduate and graduate students.

As a Career Manager, you will serve as a trusted advisor to students while building strong connections with industry leaders, alumni, government organizations, and recruiters. If you are energized by helping others succeed, developing meaningful partnerships, and creating opportunities that have lasting impact, we invite you to join our team.

What you'll do in this position:

Build Strategic Industry Partnerships

  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with employers, recruiters, executives, alumni, and external organizations.
  • Expand internship, full-time employment, mentorship, and experiential learning opportunities for students.
  • Identify and funnel potential donors and corporate partners to Assistant Dean, helping cultivate philanthropic pipelines that support college priorities.
  • Support career fairs, employer campus visits, networking events, and other recruiting activities.

Empower Student Career Success

  • Provide individualized career coaching to undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Deliver workshops and training on resumes, interviewing, networking, LinkedIn, negotiation, and professional development.
  • Connect students with employers, alumni, and industry professionals to support career exploration and job placement.
  • Partner with academic departments to align career preparation with industry needs and recruiting timelines.

Collaborate Across the College

  • Serve as the primary liaison between recruiters, academic departments, faculty, and students.
  • Partner with faculty to integrate career development into courses, seminars, and student experiences.
  • Share recruiting trends, employment outcomes, and market insights with department leadership.
  • Support college initiatives, committees, events, and strategic partnerships that advance student success.

Support Lifelong Professional Development

  • Prepare students for graduate school through advising on applications, interviews, personal statements, and academic pathways.
  • Engage with student organizations, competitions, and career-focused programs to foster leadership and professional growth.
  • Supervise and mentor student employees while creating meaningful development opportunities.
  • Represent the College through professional associations, conferences, and industry engagement activities.

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years relevant corporate experience
  • Experience leading, developing, mentoring, evaluating and hiring professionals
  • Experience in collaborating across organizations to achieve stated objectives

Preferred

  • Master's degree
  • 10+ years relevant corporate experience
  • Professional experience within a corporate environment having had direct responsibilities for managing a function, region or business unit
