This Level 3 role works under general supervision and contributes across the software development lifecycle for moderately complex programs and projects.
  • The successful candidate will collaborate with UX designers, product users, systems engineers, software and hardware teams, test engineers, and program leadership to deliver secure, reliable, and intuitive applications. The role requires sound engineering judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to recommend practical improvements to software, development processes, and user experience.

 Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain backend applications, services, and APIs using C# and modern .NET.
  • Design and implement responsive, maintainable web user interfaces using Angular and TypeScript.
  • Develop and support service integrations, business logic, data-access components, and application interfaces.
  • Translate user needs, UX designs, and system requirements into usable, scalable software solutions.
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, formal test, deployment, and production support.
  • Collaborate with UX designers and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure user interfaces are usable, consistent, accessible, and aligned with operational needs.
  • Apply secure coding practices, input validation, authorization controls, and appropriate error handling in application and API development.
  • Develop and execute unit, integration, and user-interface test procedures; support software quality assurance activities.
  • Analyze and improve application performance, stability, scalability, maintainability, and security.
  • Participate in peer code and design reviews; identify, track, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including software designs, API/interface definitions, test procedures, and user-facing documentation as needed.
  • Provide technical guidance and review support to less-experienced engineers as appropriate.
  • Contribute to technical estimates, bids, proposals, and planning activities in response to customer and program needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant software engineering experience; or a graduate degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or equivalent relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Professional experience developing backend applications and services using C# and modern .NET.
  • Experience developing web applications using Angular and TypeScript.
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating front-end applications with backend services.
  • Experience with object-oriented design principles, common software design patterns, and maintainable coding practices.
  • Experience with source control, defect tracking, peer review, and software configuration management tools.
  • Ability to independently complete moderately complex assignments and contribute to project or process improvements under general supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance, if required for the program.

Preferred Additional Skills

  • Experience with ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, SQL Server, and relational database design.
  • Experience with Angular component architecture, RxJS, state management, and automated front-end testing.
  • Experience developing secure APIs using established authentication and authorization standards.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated build/test environments, and containerized deployments.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems, message-based architectures, TCP/IP networking, and hardware or external-system integrations.
  • Experience working on Department of Defense programs or in a regulated engineering environment.
  • Active U.S. security clearance.
  • Experience collaborating directly with UX professionals and applying usability, accessibility, and human-factors considerations to web application design.
