Job description
Department: School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management  Position Description:
Â
The School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics at the University of Guelph is pleased to invite all external applicants for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant (tenure-track) or Associate (tenured) Professor Supply Chain Management.
The University of Guelph resides on the traditional lands and territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee and Huron Wendat. These lands are now home to a rich diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Metis people. We offer our respect and gratitude to our Indigenous neighbours and affirm our responsibility to realize our commitments to reconciliation through ongoing action. We are guided in this work by Bi-Naagward | It Comes into View, the Indigenous Initiatives Strategy.Â
The school is looking for candidates with a track record of scholarly work and interdisciplinary thinking, and who have taught in supply chain management. Preference will be given to applicants with experience teaching at the graduate level, particularly on topics related to logistics, supply chain digitalization and supply chain analytics.Â
The successful applicant will be a supply chain management researcher who will teach in areas related to supply chain management, but will also build connections with food, tourism, and hospitality colleagues. The applicant will have a record of research publications in the areas of supply chain management or related disciplines.
General Position Requirements:Â
The ideal candidate will possess a terminal credential in Supply Chain Management (ie. Ph.D., D.B.A., etc.) and a proven track record as a scholar in supply chain management with a focus on logistics, supply chain digitalization and/or supply chain analytics, at a level commensurate with an appointment at their desired rank. The candidate will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and/or graduate courses in their area(s) of expertise through scholarly teaching, course and program development, and supervision. Further, it is expected that the candidate will have established, or will be establishing, a proven track record in research.
The Lang School of Business and Economics houses the Longo's Food Retail Laboratory and the Schneider's Food Research Laboratory which provide controlled environments for the study of consumer retail choices and consumer perceptions of food. It also houses the Anita Stewart Memorial Food Laboratory where University of Guelph nutrition and hospitality students learn about food preparation, safety and culture. It also acts as an event space and broadcast studio for researchers to share their knowledge of food across the globe. The School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management is one of four departments in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics. While the successful candidate will be appointed to the School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management, they will be encouraged to form cross-disciplinary linkages both across Lang and with other researchers across the University.Â
