Job Title: Graduate Assistant - LibraryClassification: Graduate Assistant
Compensation: Free tuition for 12 credits during the contract, housing provided and $1000 in cafeteria credit.Reports To: Director of Library Services North Central University's graduate programs are online only.
North Central University Mission Statement:

Position Purpose:
The Library Graduate Assistant supports the mission of North Central University by contributing to effective daily library operations, delivering high-quality patron service, and assisting with resource access and research support. This role plays an important part in maintaining a welcoming, organized, and service-oriented library environment while supporting Interlibrary Loan services, collaborating with library staff on projects, and serving as a knowledgeable point of connection between the library and its users.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Staff the help desk by providing in-person and virtual support, including checking materials in and out and responding to patron inquiries via email
  • Provide one-on-one reference and basic research assistance, helping patrons navigate library resources and databases
  • Process and manage Interlibrary Loan (ILL) requests, ensuring accuracy and timely fulfillment
  • Support Course Reserves by organizing, maintaining, and facilitating access to materials
  • Assist with special projects in collaboration with library staff (e.g., collection projects, displays, assessment tasks, or system updates)
  • Contribute to the physical processing of new library materials and ongoing collection maintenance (shelf-reading, re-shelving, etc.)
  • Assist with library events, including planning support, set-up, staffing, and tear-down
  • Help maintain a welcoming, organized, and functional library environment
  • Support general library operations as needed (patron counts, light maintenance tasks, coffee bar, etc.)

Required Qualifications/Skills:
  • Currently enrolled graduate student at NCU
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational ability
  • Ability to provide research support and learn library systems and databases
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Self-motivation and strong sense of responsibility
  • Resourcefulness and adaptability in a service-oriented environment
  • Willingness to learn and apply new systems, policies, and processes

Education:
Requires a completed Bachelor's degree with acceptance into one of the graduate programs at North Central University
Benefits:
This position is a one-year position with the candidate pursuing a graduate degree from North Central University. It includes tuition remission, room, and a food stipend for on-campus dining. Anticipated start date: August 1st, 2026.
