DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Our Associate Programs offer new graduates the opportunity to work in one of TD's many lines of business, and the chance to work on challenging projects and assignments, alongside experienced colleagues, and receive coaching and mentorship from business leaders and the Early Talent Experience team, to set you up for success in your career at TD.

Associate Role Profile: Our Associates are full-time employees participating in an 18-month rotational program (two nine-month rotations) to gain exposure and experience to opportunities and to a variety of business areas within the Analytics Insights & AI team in-depth experience, complemented by programming, coaching, tools and support.

As an Associate, you will also have access to programming, tools and a community of support for your pursuits and interests beyond the 9-5. This includes leadership talks, lunch and learns, self-development workshops, TD sponsored conferences, socials, team challenges, volunteer opportunities, career coaching and more. You will be part of a cohort along with other TD Associates from across Canada!

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Applied Machine Learning Scientist will perform a variety of activities, which may include:

  • Apply advanced machine learning methods to conduct data-driven research, identify opportunities, and make tangible recommendations to senior management.

  • Collaborate with business partners to identify opportunities for process optimization and informed decision-making and build innovative solutions.

  • Work with structured and unstructured data and prepare data sets for machine learning through integration, cleaning, feature engineering, scaling and transforming data

  • Build production-scale solutions and work with deployment teams to integrate in business operations

  • Leverage visualization methods to represent results and communicate outcomes to technical and non-technical audiences

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be graduated between May 2025and December 2026 with a Graduate degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, and/or Data Analytics or related.

  • Strong statistical and analytical skills as well as a passion for analytics are necessary.

  • Experience with analyzing large data sets, drawing insights and inferences, and communicating outputs.

  • Experienced in one or more of:

  • Big Data - Programming, Data/Text Mining, Optimization, Algorithm Development, Automation, Data Visualization, Simulation

  • Machine Learning - Predictive Analytics, Regression, Logit Modeling, Model development, Discrete Choice, Propensity Modeling, Natural Language Processing, Generative AI.

  • Software Engineering - Code Quality, Version Control, Object-Oriented Programming

  • Strong technical knowledge and experience with one or more of: Python, R, Spark, SQL, SAS, Java, or C/C++

  • Technical knowledge or experience with Cloud environments as well as experience with Data Management, and Project Management are a plus.

  • Must have strong leadership qualities including demonstrating initiative, establishing priorities and using strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to add value to each initiative, project or team assigned to.

  • Able to participate as part of a team with targeted deliverables, working on initiatives designed to improve decisions, processes, systems, and applications which support our key businesses.

  • Remain current with emerging trends and technologies in Data Science
