Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is looking for a Senior Geochemist ready to advance their career. Located in Oakville, Ontario, our center of excellence for mine waste geochemistry provides world-class consulting services throughout Canada and around the world.

Please note this role may have the option to work from other Wood office locations across Canada or even remotely.

Our team includes geochemists with backgrounds in geology, aqueous geochemistry and engineering. Working collaboratively with our senior geochemists and other professionals we provide a positive entrepreneurial environment in which to work on challenging projects and continue your professional growth.

Skills / Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in an applicable field (e.g. geochemistry, geology, earth sciences)
  • 10+ years' experience, with at least 5+ years' experience in an environmental consulting firm or mining company
  • Eligible for Professional accreditation (P.Geo, P.Eng. etc.) an asset but not a requirement
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience regarding acid rock drainage/ metal leaching and mine waste geochemistry assessment
  • Demonstrated experience with geochemical sampling design, water and rock sample collection, and analytical methods for mine waste geochemistry analysis
  • Demonstrated abilities with geochemical and water quality modeling using industry-standard software packages (e.g., GoldSim, PhreeqC, CE-QUAL-W2, and Geochemist's Workbench)
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage projects and tasks successfully within a schedule and budget
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Willingness to travel for field assignments (approximately 5-10% of time)
