Job description

Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.
Translating Research in Elder Care (TREC) is a research program in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Alberta. TREC is a pan-Canadian and international program of applied research in continuing care (nursing homes). It functions in an integrated knowledge translation or partnered model. We have long standing relationships with stakeholders, end users, policy makers, and our citizen advisory group. We are looking for a highly organized, resourceful Research Assistant to support TREC's ongoing research on trauma informed care. The successful candidate will work under an experienced Project Coordinator to assist with multiple complex research initiatives already underway. They will primarily help coordinate research team operations, stakeholder engagement, data collection, and research administration.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as Nursing, Health Sciences/Public Health, Social Sciences, Social Work
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment and to multi-task while remaining organized
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and capacity to adjust to changing team dynamics
- Demonstrated superior written and oral communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Detail oriented
- High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in health research an asset
- Experience with continuing care or trauma care an asset
- Experience with conducting interviews, focus groups or facilitating group sessions an asset
- Experience using design/content development tools (e.g. Canva, Vengage, Adobe Creative Suite) to create visually engaging materials as asset

- Coordinate research activity across multiple trauma-related projects (e.g., managing team/stakeholder communications, scheduling interviews, monitoring timelines, coordinating project logistics)
- Oversee team planning and record keeping (e.g., scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, writing and disseminating minutes/reports)
- Create and update project materials (e.g., workshop training packages, infographics, presentations)
- Assist with site visit planning and facilitation as well as provide on-site support for workshops and stakeholder engagement activities
- Support qualitative and quantitative data collection (e.g., interviews, surveys), analysis and reporting
- Conduct literature reviews and synthesize research findings
- Perform additional administrative and operational duties as required.
