Job description

Direct Hire | $85,000–$95,000, depending on experience

Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit organization based in Northern, RI, is looking for a Strategic Project Manager to bring structure and discipline to organizational planning and execution. This is a chance to work closely with senior leadership and help translate strategic goals into clear, actionable plans across the organization. The ideal candidate is an analytical thinker who enjoys turning big-picture priorities into measurable results.

Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Strategic Planning Manager doesn't oversee a specific department. Instead, this role ensures every team contributes effectively to organizational planning and executes against shared priorities. Acting as a strategic partner to leadership, this person brings data-driven recommendations, disciplined forecasting, and clear accountability to decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities of the Strategic Project Manager
  • Lead strategic planning sessions and translate organizational goals into annual, quarterly, and monthly roadmaps with clear ownership and measurable success criteria.
  • Oversee the organization's highest-priority initiatives from initial scoping through post-implementation review, monitoring progress and addressing risks along the way.
  • Build forecasting and planning models to support decisions around demand, staffing, and organizational impact, presenting leadership with clear recommendations and tradeoffs.
  • Drive cross-departmental alignment, surfacing and resolving competing priorities, resource constraints, and execution gaps.
  • Prepare executive-level dashboards, forecasts, and presentations that synthesize input from multiple departments into decision-ready recommendations.

Qualifications of the Strategic Project Manager
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or related graduate degree preferred.
  • Project Management certification.
  • 3-5 years of experience in strategic planning, program management, business operations, consulting, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and building alignment across departments.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and operational modeling skills, with experience presenting directly to executive leadership.
