Job Description:

We are looking for a ML/ AI engineer that will help us in creating new AI solutions for automating, monitoring and control of advanced cyber threats by extracting insights hidden in vast amounts of network and security log data.

Your primary focus will be building machine learning models, conversational and agentic solutions for Security, Risk and Crisis Management.

Success for this role will be achieved by building new AI solutions, to automate for high efficiency and accuracy along with identifying previously undiscovered intrusions or by improving the organization's security posture or the measurement thereof. The goal is to create new strategic and tactical value for security through exploration, innovation, analysis using cutting-edge technologies and techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely and collaborate with stakeholders to understand their use cases, business cases, gather requirements, and develop AI architectures to address their business cases

  • Apply AI, data mining, NLP, machine learning (both supervised and unsupervised) and statistical methods to improve relevance and personalization algorithms for improving Cybersecurity detection at Sun Life

  • Design enterprise-grade Generative AI architectures, including complex Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and multi-agent systems.

  • Fine-tune open-source and proprietary models (e.g., Clauda) using advanced optimization techniques like LoRA, QLoRA, and deep prompt engineering.

  • Build, scale, and maintain high-throughput LLM serving infrastructure using various optimization

  • Architect scalable data engineering pipelines and manage enterprise vector databases (e.g. OpenSearch, pgVector) for high-performance semantic search.

  • Implement robust model evaluation frameworks and guardrails to mitigate hallucinations, bias, and security vulnerabilities.

  • Discover new data sources to access, ingest, clean, and make them "model-ready". You need to be willing and able to do your own ETL from various data stores

  • Develop subject matter expertise to understand about features to enhance model(s) performance and develop a standard repeatable process to continue enhancement and deployment

  • Run regular A/B tests, gather data, perform statistical analysis, draw conclusions on the impact of your optimizations and communicate results to peers and leaders

  • Create automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance for various use cases

  • Develop customized interactive dashboards to present information using data visualization techniques for internal business partners

  • Developing complex SQL queries across multiple data sources to support analysis and optimizing workloads to reduce query runtimes along with process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis

  • Accurately prepare and promptly complete all required supporting documentation for assigned projects/tasks (i.e., reports, models, change requests, presentations, tables, files, etc).

  • Stay up to date on ML/AI advancements in general and be able to communicate those changes via internal memos, blogs, training sessions, and architectural designs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field; graduate degree in Data Science or other quantitative field is preferred.

  • Experience building Conversational and Agentic AI solutions.

  • Familiarity with Data Visualization and Reporting tools such as (Tableau Desktop, Power BI, AWS Quick).

  • 5+ years experience in using Python/R and SQL with tools like Snowflake, RedShift, RDS, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, SAS, Oracle, Bedrock, Agentcore etc. to analyze data and gather valuable insights.

  • Develop and drive innovative Data and Analytics thinking, including Predictive Modelling, Data Science application development.

  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services including Athena, Redshift, Lambda and SageMaker.

  • Conceptual understanding of the following topics:

  • Machine Learning (ML) techniques, and comprehension of existing algorithms and ML lifecycle components.

  • Database theory, ETL/data pipeline design and data modelling.

  • Ability to work independently and eager to take on responsibility.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
