Department: Testify! Initiative

Reports to: Program Director

Classification: On-site; Full-time, Hourly, Non-Exempt, 37.5-hour workweek

Starting Pay: $30.77 - $33.33 hourly ($60,000 - $65,000 annually)

ABOUT Christian Theological Seminary – Two Schools One Mission

CTS is a fully accredited ecumenical academic learning community offering graduate programs through its School of Theology and School of Counseling, as well as accessible mental health services through the Counseling Center. ABOUT Testify!

Testify! is a five-year Lilly Endowment initiative revitalizing testimony traditions in Black churches nationwide through artistic collaboration and digital empowerment. The project partners with churches across the country, produces city-wide events, and creates digital resources to support testimony as a spiritual formation practice.

JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a creative, mission-driven Digital Media Manager who could be early in their career or experienced, but serious about the intersection of digital media, culture, and Black faith. This role supports digital strategy and content creation for partnerships with 250 Black churches nationwide, helping transform authentic testimonies into compelling content for growing online audiences. The ideal candidate is culturally grounded, eager to learn, and genuinely passionate about Black faith storytelling. You will work alongside experienced leadership while taking real ownership of projects that matter.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Content Creation & Social Media

  • Assist in developing and maintaining a content calendar aligned with seasonal and cultural moments in the Black church calendar
  • Create graphics, short-form video, and written content for platforms including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook
  • Design accessible templates and toolkits that empower church partners to share testimonies online
  • Engage with and help cultivate relationships with Black Christian content creators and faith-based communities online

Brand & Strategy Support

  • Support development of messaging that reflects the theological integrity and cultural richness of Black faith communities
  • Assist in tracking audience segmentation and performance benchmarks across platforms
  • Contribute ideas to content strategy discussions and bring a fresh, culturally relevant perspective to the team
  • Help document best practices for churches navigating digital transformation

Research & Social Listening

  • Monitor trends in Black digital culture and faith-based content across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and emerging platforms
  • Conduct social listening to understand how audiences engage spiritually online
  • Bring research insights back to the team to inform content decisions and strategy

Collaboration & Administration

  • Collaborate with the Grant Director and church partners to ensure content reflects community voices and values
  • Maintain organized records of content calendars, campaign data, and platform analytics
  • Perform other duties as assigned and adapt as project priorities evolve

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will report to the program director and should possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to fulfill the essential functions of the position and demonstrate successful experience and proficiency in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, media studies, or a related field – OR equivalent combination of education and experience (internships and freelance work considered)
  • 1-2 years of experience in social media management, content creation, or digital marketing (including internships, freelance, or campus roles)
  • Proficiency in content creation tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or Adobe Premiere
  • Working knowledge of major social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook) and how each algorithm functions
  • Basic analytics skills, comfortable reading platform insights, and translating data into actionable takeaways
  • Experience creating culturally responsive digital content for diverse audiences, including Black church and Black digital community contexts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional and culturally aware voice
  • Active participation in a faith community and comfort discussing faith in professional settings
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with a self-starter attitude

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with broadcast or live-event production support
  • Familiarity with project management tools
  • Understanding of theological concepts and ability to engage respectfully with doctrinal diversity
  • Experience working in nonprofit, faith-based, or educational settings
  • Comfort with AI productivity tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Adobe Firefly) to support content workflows
  • Experience mentoring peers or leading creative collaborations

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Office-based position at Christian Theological Seminary (Indianapolis, IN)
  • Standard business hours with occasional evening or weekend work for Testify! events
  • Some physical requirements, including lifting up to 25 lbs
