Your Moneris Career - The Opportunity

As a Software Developer III, you will design, develop, and enhance systems powering Moneris' Credit Risk platform, supporting core business operations and decisioning.

You'll contribute to a platform that evaluates credit risk in a highreliability environment, where performance, accuracy, and scalability directly impact business outcomes. This role offers exposure to modern backend development using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud technologies, with opportunities to influence system design and architecture. You will work across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements through production delivery, collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. The team emphasizes clean architecture principles, test-first development, and continuous improvement in a domain with real business impact.

Additional Role Details

Location: You will be based in our Toronto office, balancing in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.

Reporting Relationship: You will report to the Manager, Software Development

Posting Type: New Position

Salary Range: The expected base salary range for this role is $85,000 - $119,000.

Total compensation may also include variable or discretionary incentive components, including but not limited to bonuses and commissions. Individual job offers are determined by various factors, including experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.

Your Moneris Career - What you'll do

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services supporting the Credit Risk platform.

  • Build and enhance RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.

  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.

  • Contribute to system architecture using layered and domain-driven design principles.

  • Implement and maintain automated testing, including unit tests and test data strategies.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve system performance and decisioning accuracy.

  • Support full SDLC, including code reviews, builds, deployments, and production support.

  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to code quality and engineering standards.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

  • 4+ years of experience in software development using Java (Java 21 preferred).

  • Experience building applications with Spring Boot and RESTful API development.

  • Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable).

  • Understanding of modern architecture patterns (layered, hexagonal, or domain-driven design).

  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.

  • Experience with unit testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit) and shift-left development practices.

  • Experience working in Agile development environments.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in financial services or credit risk/adjudication systems.

  • Experience with Drools or similar business rules engines.

  • Experience with Azure Functions or serverless architecture.

  • Experience with testing and QA tools such as RestAssured, Mockito, and JaCoCo.

  • Experience with Spring Data JPA and enterprise data access patterns.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and build tools such as Maven.
