Job description

Rumble is the Freedom-First technology platform. We proudly offer a video platform, cloud services, advertising solutions, and a non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet.

Rumble is seeking a Senior Front-End Engineer to help evolve and scale the core web experiences across our platform, including video pages, listings, and short-form content surfaces. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who goes beyond framework usage and deeply understands how the web works under the hood. You'll play a key role in modernizing our front-end architecture as we continue migrating from legacy PHP-based systems toward a more component-driven approach using Lit and TypeScript.

This role sits on a small, highly collaborative team where engineers wear multiple hats and are expected to operate with a high degree of ownership. You should be comfortable taking ambiguous product requirements and turning them into clean, performant, and scalable implementations. A strong grasp of browser fundamentals, rendering models, and JavaScript internals is critical, along with the ability to reason about tradeoffs in tooling, bundling, and architecture.

You'll work closely with product, design, and backend teams to deliver performant, user-focused features while helping shape the future of our front-end stack. Success in this role requires both strong technical execution and the ability to engage in thoughtful technical discussions where ideas are challenged and refined collaboratively.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable front-end systems powering core Rumble experiences such as video playback pages, content listings, and short-form video features. Contribute to the ongoing migration from legacy PHP-rendered systems to modern web component-based architecture using Lit and TypeScript. Develop reusable, modular components with a focus on performance, maintainability, and cross-device compatibility. Work closely with design and product to break down ambiguous requirements into well-structured implementations. Optimize application performance across load time, rendering, and runtime efficiency. Collaborate on API integration across REST, GraphQL, and real-time data interfaces. Participate in code reviews, debugging, and continuous improvement of development practices, while helping elevate engineering standards across the team.

Qualifications
  • Strong front-end engineering experience with deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript, including closures, async behavior, and browser APIs.
  • Solid understanding of browser fundamentals, including DOM, Shadow DOM, rendering pipelines, and differences between virtual DOM and native approaches.
  • Experience working with modern front-end architectures and tooling, including bundlers (Webpack, Vite, Rollup), loaders, and build systems.
  • Hands-on experience with component-driven development, ideally with Lit or similar web component libraries; experience with Angular or vanilla JavaScript is preferred over framework-heavy abstraction.
  • Proven ability to translate design specifications into performant, maintainable UI implementations.
  • Experience integrating with APIs (REST, GraphQL, WebSockets) and handling dynamic data flows.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work across legacy and modern systems.
  • Comfort working in small, fast-moving teams with a high degree of ownership and ambiguity.
  • Experience with Git and modern development workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Lit or web components and migrating from legacy front-end stacks.
  • Familiarity with server-rendered applications and hybrid rendering approaches.
  • Experience optimizing front-end performance at scale, including bundle size, rendering efficiency, and caching strategies.
  • Exposure to video technologies, streaming, or media-heavy applications.
  • Understanding of SEO best practices and technical implementation.
  • Experience working with real-time data and event-driven UI updates.
  • Ability to use AI-assisted development tools effectively while maintaining strong understanding of underlying systems and code quality.

Annual Compensation Range:

$150,000 - 179,000 CAD base + benefits + equity
