As a member of a project team, the Graduate Electrical Engineer will perform engineering and design duties, which require application of engineering principles. Assignments are closely supervised and designed to further develop employee's job knowledge and abilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

Employee may be called upon to perform any orΒ all ofΒ the following functions:Β 

  • Work with project team to perform specific tasks as assigned for the creation of design documents and drawings for a project, including creating wiring diagrams from schematics, generating bills of materials, and applying field mark-ups of project as-built drawings under direct supervisionΒ 

  • Perform engineering support tasks such as relay burden, lighting, simplified load flow, and short circuit calculations under direct supervisionΒ 

  • Learn and apply engineering application software to complete engineering tasks such as ground grid design, relay coordination, transformer sizing, and load flow and short circuit studies under direct supervisionΒ 

  • Complete tasks as assigned to meet engineering and design effort project schedule requirementsΒ 

  • Learn and apply engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSIΒ 

  • Learn andΒ properly useΒ the document management systemΒ 

  • Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practicesΒ 

  • Spend time at job sites to gain hands-on knowledge andΒ additionalΒ training in substation construction and designΒ 

  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her workΒ 

  • Bring potential project-related problems andΒ possible solutionsΒ to the attention of the responsible partyΒ 

  • Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignmentsΒ 

  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.Β 

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Create design documents, drawings, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials for substation projects under senior engineer supervision.Β 

  • Perform engineering calculations and studies: relay burden, load flow, short circuit, ground grid design, relay coordination, and transformer sizing.Β 

  • Apply industry standards (NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, ANSI) and gain hands-on experience at job sites.Β 

  • DeliverΒ accurateΒ work on schedule, solve problems proactively, and travel to project sites as needed.Β 

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Bachelor's degree in Electrical EngineeringΒ from an accredited university isΒ required,Β a power focus is preferred. Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or ability to obtainΒ EITΒ certificate within one year of date of hire isΒ required. Prior internship and/or related work experience in the power field is preferred.Β 

Possess skills in the following areas:Β 

  • Occasional travel to other offices or meeting locations.Β 
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.Β 
  • Ability to stand and walk intermittently throughout the workday.Β 
  • Ability to sit for extended periods during computer-based work.Β 

Physical Requirements:Β Β 

  • Knowledge of common word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail softwareΒ 
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both verbally and writtenΒ 
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skillsΒ 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work in a team environmentΒ 
  • Basic knowledge of three phase power systemsΒ 
  • Knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentalsΒ
