At USC Upstate, we strive to provide individualized and broad graduate assistantship experience. The overall goal of the graduate assistantship program is to gain knowledge and experience through opportunities so that upon graduation, an individual is ready to move into a full-time position within the field of collegiate athletics administration.
Job Duties

The Graduate Assistant for the Women's Soccer Program is a 20 hour per week graduate assistantship in the Department of Athletics. This position supports the Women's Soccer team within the USC Upstate athletic department. This position reports to the Head Coach for the Women's Soccer Program.
Specific Duties will include:

 Coaching & Player Development

  • Assist in planning and conducting training sessions and practices
  • Provide technical and tactical instruction to student-athletes
  • Support game-day coaching, including strategy and in-game adjustments
  • Analyze team and opponent performance using video and data tools
Recruiting

  • Identify and evaluate prospective student-athletes
  • Maintain recruiting databases and communication logs
  • Assist with campus visits and recruitment events
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA or institutional recruiting guidelines
Operations & Administration

  • Organize practice schedules, travel arrangements, and equipment
  • Handle administrative duties such as paperwork, reports, and budgeting assistance
  • Coordinate team meetings, events, and community outreach initiatives
Academic & Student Support

  • Monitor student-athlete academic progress
  • Encourage academic success and personal development
  • Act as a mentor and role model for student-athletes
Compliance

  • Adhere to all NCAA, conference, and institutional policies
  • Participate in compliance education and ensure program adherence


Qualifications
Qualifications

         Bachelor's degree
         Acceptance into the Master of Science in Sport and Entertainment Management (MSEM) program at the University of South Carolina, Columbia or acceptance into any master's program at USC Upstate 
         Must be accepted as a graduate student to accept this graduate assistant appointment
         Successful background check
         Valid driver's license and good driving record
Preferred Qualifications

         Previous playing or coaching experience in intercollegiate athletics
         Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite
         Knowledge of soccer analytics/video software (e.g., Hudl,) is a plus
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

         Comfort with juggling multiple tasks
         Excellent written and oral communication skills
         Ability to interact effectively with student-athletes, colleagues, coaches, and supporters
         Ability to work independently and as part of a team
         Attention to detail
Work Environment

  • Combination of office, field, and travel settings

Compensation

- Stipend of $1,000 per month for a 10-month academic year (August-May), with the possibility of a summer appointment
- Out-of-state tuition waiver, if applicable (valued at approximately $12,000 to $16,000 per year depending upon how many hours the candidate attempts)
- Candidate is responsible for in-state tuition and related fees, which is approximately $10,300 to $14,000 per year depending upon how many hours the candidate attempts
