Job Description Summary
The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of physical programming for assigned sports teams (club and/or varsity) and periodic supervision/oversight of multiple strength & conditioning facilities (Weiss weight room, Fox Fitness Center & Pottruck), while also contributing as a team member of the Recreation and Sports Performance teams. Our goal is to positively impact varsity and club sport student-athletes and help them reach their highest potential physically and mentally, reduce risk of injury, and create an unrivaled experience. All staff members will contribute to this goal by educating, inspiring, empowering, and growing their respective student-athletes and teams.
The position requires both a basic degree of related knowledge and experience, plus the range to think creatively and act collaboratively. A successful individual will have strong interpersonal skills, be highly organized, possess a passion for athletic and personal development, and operate as a great teammate. Integral personal traits are humility, awareness, positivity, and a growth mindset.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate holistic training program that meets the needs of the sport coach, team, and individual.
- Create and maintain a positive environment that leads to an engaging experience. Instruct the team, group, or individual student-athletes in the optimal execution of strength and conditioning activities aiming to obtain desired results.
- Work in concert with other members of the Recreation and Strength & Conditioning staffs to implement and enforce policies and procedures governing the use of the weight rooms, ensuring the health and safety of all student-athletes. Share in the responsibilities of coverage and care of weight room facilities. Help with additional team coverage when needed.
- Create and maintain positive relationships with all campus partners. Communicate and collaborate regularly with Recreation and Sports Performance staffs, sports medicine, sport coaches, and student-athletes, to ensure that the most beneficial results of the strength and conditioning program are being realized.
- Fully utilize all provided technology systems, including TeamBuildr, Perch, and Teamworks AMS as well as any/all dashboards and other assessment tools available to you..
- Continually develop professionally, alongside other Sports Performance team members.
- Occasionally work odd hours (early mornings, evenings, weekends)
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field is required
  • Required certification: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA) and/or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (CSCCa)
  • 1+ years of experience in a collegiate setting is preferred
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and data supported decision making is preferred
