Job description

Georgia Military College announces a part-time opening for an assistant coach position for the Junior College. The softball assistant coach carries out the objectives of the sports program as outlined by the head coach. Instruct athletes in team and individual fundamentals, strategies and physical training necessary for them to realize individual and team success. This position reports to the Head Coach in conjunction with the Athletic Director.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Instructs student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for individual and team success.
  • Assists in the recruitment of future-student athletes.
  • Assists in the necessary preparation to hold practices and games
  • Knowledge of field maintenance for games and practices
  • Attends staff meetings for the purpose of planning and evaluating the program.
  • Promotes and encourages fair play, good sportsmanship and ethical standards of conduct both on and off the field.
  • Assists with maintaining a yearly inventory of all new and used equipment
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the Head Coach of the sport.

Necessary Skills:

  • Knowledgeable of current rules, techniques, and procedures required for the activity.
  • Must be organized and punctual.
  • Conducts oneself in a manner that exemplifies self-control and the promotion of good sportsmanship.
