Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut is seeking determined leaders to join us in our mission to help others and serve our local communities.

Our Retail Stores support and even provide funding to different Goodwill programs that assist people with obtaining meaningful employment and bettering their overall quality of life.

As an Assistant Store Manager, you would be an essential part of ensuring the success of our stores and Goodwill’s mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing a Goodwill retail store within the agency’s established policy
  • Recruiting, training, and supervising retail team members in retail operation procedures
  • Delegating work assignments to appropriate associates and ensuring team members complete assigned tasks
  • Recommending and administering appropriate discipline to team members as needed
  • Creating team member work schedules to achieve optimum customer service, merchandise display, store security, and expense control
  • Ordering merchandise to stock store
  • Maintaining records of sales data and bank deposits
  • Planning attractive merchandise displays that make effective use of the sales area
  • Attending marketing and sales meetings
  • Maintaining a clean and neat store


Position Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Experience or education in Business and Marketing is preferred
  • Two years of experience in a management/supervisory position
  • Ability to supervise and train in shipping/receiving functions, stock duties, merchandising, cashiering, and customer service retail
  • Willing to travel or relocate
  • Being prepared for considerable standing, reaching, lifting, carrying, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift over 40 pounds.
  • Exposure to inclement weather
  • Exposure to various merchandise with potential for contaminated or damaged items
  • Availability to work day, evening, and weekend shifts
