Position Summary
Position Summary:
St. Johns River State College seeks a dedicated individual to serve as Assistant Baseball Coach. This position assists the Head Baseball Coach with all aspects of the baseball program, including recruiting, player development, practice planning, game preparation, academic monitoring, and program operations. The Assistant Baseball Coach plays a critical role in supporting student-athlete success both on and off the field while promoting the mission and values of the College and the athletic department.
The primary work location is the Palatka Campus; however, travel throughout the College service area and for athletic competitions, recruiting activities, and team events is required.

St. Johns River State College is a public college located in beautiful northeast Florida along the shores of the St. Johns River. With three campuses in Clay, Putnam, and St. Johns counties, SJR State serves nearly 10,000 students each year from among a population base of approximately 600,000 in one of the fastest-growing regions of the state.

Duties and Responsibilities
COACHING AND PLAYER DEVELOPMENT:
• Assist the Head Baseball Coach with planning, organizing, and conducting practices, conditioning sessions, and competitive events.
• Provide instruction in individual and team fundamentals, skill development, and game strategies.
• Experience pitching or coaching pitchers at the college level preferred.
• Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, discipline, and personal growth among student-athletes.
• Assist with player evaluations and the development of student-athletes both on and off the field.
• Support the academic success, retention, and overall well-being of student-athletes.
RECRUITING AND STUDENT SUPPORT:
• Assist with identifying, evaluating, and recruiting prospective student-athletes in accordance with College and NJCAA regulations.
• Communicate with prospective student-athletes, parents, coaches, and school representatives regarding the softball program and admission requirements.
• Experience recruiting in the state of Florida is highly preferred.
• Monitor academic progress and encourage student-athlete success through mentoring and academic support.
• Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and student services personnel to promote student-athlete achievement.
• Assist with orientation, registration, and retention efforts for student-athletes.
PROGRAM OPERATIONS:
• Assist with team travel arrangements, scheduling, equipment management, and game-day operations.
• Support fundraising activities, community engagement events, camps, clinics, and program promotions.
• Maintain compliance with College, conference, NJCAA, and other governing body rules and regulations.
• Assist with inventory, maintenance, and security of athletic equipment and facilities.
• Perform administrative duties, maintain program records, and complete required reports.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head Baseball Coach.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Playing and coaching experience required.
• Must possess a strong desire to coach college-aged student-athletes.
• This position is available for Veteran's Preference.
