Job description

Graduate Assistant - Athletic Communications and Operations

Cameron University Athletics, and NCAA DII member of the Lone Star Conference, is seeking candidates for a graduate assistant position in the office of Athletic Communications and Operations.  The graduate assistant will assist the Director of Athletic Communications with the successful implementation of various department functions.

Responsibilities may include any of the following assignments based on skill-set and experience:

       Creative video and digital content, website and other electronic media, and media relations for Cameron's 13 intercollegiate sports. 

       Create and post content to athletic department/select athletic programs' social media accounts.

       Assist with FloSports broadcasts and all athletic web stream productions.

       Write press releases and game recaps, roster and schedule maintenance on the athletics website, game programs, updating student-athlete and coach bios, media relations, and production of statistics at home events.

       Assist with creating other content including photography, capturing video, written features, development and enhancement of records and archives, and general athletic department website maintenance.

       Assist with the supervision of athletic events and facilities

       Assist or lead with supervision game operation functions such as ticket sales, concession management, crowd management, game worker support, game technology management.

       Serves as game administrator for select home contests

       Assist with scheduling practices and events in all athletic facilities

       Assisting the Director of Athletic Communications with development and implementation of athletic department media campaigns.

       Assist with production of presentations for special events

       Work both as a member of a team as well as individually with supervision

       Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Ability to be admitted into a Cameron University graduate program
  • Ability to work all home athletic games and events- nights and weekends required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule between 25-29 hours per week in various environments
  • Ability to climb stairs and lift up to 40 lbs may be required
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign, is preferred
  • Experience with photography and/or video editing is preferred
  • Experience with website management is preferred

       Expertise managing various social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat is preferred

  • Experience with NCAA statistical programs is preferred

Package/Compensation:

       Up to nine hours per semester of tuition and mandatory fees, on-campus apartment-style housing waiver, and monthly stipend.
