Overall Purpose
ADS LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the accounting function in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting requirements, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. This role will be hybrid based out of our Huntsville, AL office.
General Accounting & Reporting
• Prepare month-end journal entries and account reconciliations
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
• Produce budget vs. actual variance reporting
• Support internal and external audits
• Participate in SOX Section 404 compliance activities
Accounts Receivable & Bad Debt
• Calculate and review monthly bad debt reserves
• Maintain AR aging reports and related OneStream reporting
Inventory & Cost Accounting
• Perform monthly inventory reconciliations and journal entries
• Review purchase order commitment reporting
• Manage inventory-related intercompany transactions
Fixed Assets & Capital
• Administer fixed asset accounting and records
• Assist with annual fixed asset audits
• Maintain capital expenditure tracking and reporting
Leases & Facilities
• Review facility lease charges, including CAM and miscellaneous expenses
• Manage CoStar system entries and related journal postings
Intercompany Accounting
• Reconcile IDEX intercompany accounts monthly
• Prepare intercompany invoices (U.S. to Canada)
Tax & Compliance
• Prepare and file monthly and quarterly sales tax returns
• Assist with property tax filings
Cross-Functional Support
• Serve as backup for payroll and accounts payable processing
• Provide coverage for Canada Staff Accountant as needed
• Participate in system upgrades, testing, and process improvements
• Complete ad hoc analysis and reporting projects
Required Skills & Competencies
• Strong understanding of GAAP and SOX compliance
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Proficiency working in automated accounting systems
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• 2 or more years of relevant accounting experience required
• Experience in a GAAP and SOX-controlled environment preferred
• Experience with Costpoint or similar ERP systems desired
Technical Skills
• Advanced Excel skills (e.g., XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) required
• Experience with reporting tools such as Cognos or Access preferred
