Job description

Join Southern Shade Tree Co., a leading full-service landscaping and tree service provider with over 50 years of experience in exceeding client expectations in the Carolinas.

We are currently seeking a Landscape Grader Operator. The successful candidate will be responsible for grading lots for new home sites, preparing them for landscape installations. A company-provided truck and machine will be at your disposal for this role.

Responsibilities
  • Perform successive passes over the working area, observing reference stakes or hand signals of other workers, to level the surface to the specified grade.
  • Feel levers and listen to equipment sounds to determine the depth of the cut.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the grader.
  • Ensure grader is in proper gear and is not moving too fast for working conditions.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of grades and interpret roadway plans and drawings.
  • Work outdoors in a hands-on construction environment.
  • Read and understand grade stakes for grade checking and alignment using GPS, lasers, levels, and string line.
  • Operate heavy equipment in residential construction.
  • Adhere to general construction site safety requirements.
  • Complete manual labor as required.
  • Follow all procedures and guidelines related to safety and safe operation of equipment.
  • Perform safety checks and maintenance on all equipment, train new employees, and complete other construction tasks as assigned.
  • Inspect properties and provide quality control and customer service.
Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Legally eligible to work in the US without visa sponsorship.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience (Skid Steer)
  • Valid State Driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull or carry objects weighing up to 50-90 pounds.
