Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Project Manager to oversee sitework, earthwork, excavation, underground utilities, and concrete-related scopes for commercial and industrial projects. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys spending time in the field, building strong relationships with crews and subcontractors, and ensuring projects run safely, efficiently, and with a high level of quality. The PM must be comfortable being onsite regularly rather than sitting behind a desk all day.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage civil construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordination

  • Lead project kickoff, create work plans, and establish expectations with field teams and subcontractors

  • Review drawings and specifications with a strong understanding of earthwork, grading, utilities, site concrete, and dirt-moving operations

  • Visit job sites regularly to monitor progress, verify quantities, resolve issues, and support field leadership

  • Evaluate subcontractor performance, track production, and ensure work aligns with scope, schedule, and quality expectations

  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation

  • Collaborate closely with Superintendents, engineers, clients, and inspectors to maintain clear communication and alignment

  • Monitor project costs, quantities, and reporting to ensure accurate forecasting and budget performance

  • Support project safety by reinforcing compliance and addressing site concerns proactively

  • Assist with project closeout, punchlists, and turnover documentation

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager in civil construction

  • Strong background in excavation, utilities, earthwork, grading, concrete flatwork, and site development

  • Ability to read and interpret civil plans, profiles, details, and specifications

  • Comfortable spending significant time onsite supporting field operations

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Experience with construction scheduling, estimating support, and cost tracking

  • Proficiency in construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms

  • Effective communicator with strong leadership and problem-solving abilities

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed
