This role focuses on partnering with classroom teachers during Algebra 1 and Geometry instruction, providing targeted support that helps students engage with challenging concepts, participate confidently in class, and develop the skills needed for success in their coursework and Regents assessments later in the year.

  • Training & coaching – From pre-service training with experienced educators to ongoing mentorship, we set you up to succeed from day one.
  • Aligned scheduling – Consistent weekday hours that follow the NYC DOE school calendar.

What You’ll Do

As a Simply Ed High School Algebra & Geometry Teacher’s Assistant, you will:

  • Provide push-in classroom support during Algebra 1 and Geometry instruction.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide targeted academic support that aligns with daily instruction.
  • Offer one-on-one and small group academic support to students.
  • Reinforce algebraic reasoning, geometric concepts, mathematical vocabulary, and problem-solving strategies.
  • Help students build confidence while applying mathematical concepts to classwork and assessments.
  • Help manage classroom routines and foster a focused, supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and share observations with teachers and staff.
  • Assist with organizing materials and preparing instructional resources.
  • Attend required training sessions and staff meetings.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Comfortable explaining Algebra 1 and Geometry concepts to high school students.
  • Reliable, professional, and committed to showing up every day.
  • Strong communicators and collaborative team players.
  • Experienced with adolescents (formally or informally) — school experience preferred, but training is provided.
  • Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Able to adapt to different learning environments and student needs.
  • Cleared (or eligible for clearance) through NYC DOE PETS background check and fingerprinting.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

What You Gain
  • Competitive pay of $26/hour.
  • PETS clearance and valuable DOE high school experience.
  • Experience working alongside certified teachers in a collaborative classroom environment.
  • A chance to build subject-specific instructional and classroom management skills.
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth.
