Job description

ADVANCE YOUR CAREER. ADVANCE THE WORLD.
At AMD, we believe technology can change lives for the better. It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. And we're looking for talent who feel the same: people who want to leave the planet better than they found it, those who don't shy away from humanity's challenges but are determined to help solve them.
AMD is powering the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Whether you're designing next-gen processors, enabling AI breakthroughs, or creating go-to-market plans, every role at AMD contributes to something bigger - technology that moves the world forward.
THE ROLE:
AMD is looking for an experienced software engineering lead who is passionate about improving the performance of the leading AI models and agentic workloads. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate should possess a strong software engineering background with extensive low-level experience debugging complex platform and rack-level performance bottlenecks. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with AMD's architecture specialists to improve future products
  • Apply a data minded approach to target optimization efforts
  • Stay informed of software and hardware trends and innovations, especially pertaining to algorithms and architecture
  • Design and develop new groundbreaking AMD technologies
  • Participating in new ASIC and hardware bring ups
  • Debugging/fix existing issues and research alternative, more efficient ways to accomplish the same work
  • Develop technical relationships with peers and partners

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Extensive experience with low-level GPU performance optimization
  • Experience debugging complex system level software bottlenecks
  • Experience debugging multi-node communication and perf bottlenecks
  • Strong object-oriented programming background, C/C++ preferred
  • Experience with modern concurrent programming and threading APIs
  • Experience with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers is a plus
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
