Gpu Compiler Engineer information

What are GPU Compiler Engineers?

GPU Compiler Engineers are specialized software engineers who design, develop, and optimize compilers that translate high-level programming code into machine code that runs efficiently on Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). Their work enables developers to harness the full power of GPUs for tasks such as graphics rendering, scientific computing, and machine learning. These engineers often work closely with hardware teams to ensure compatibility and performance, and they play a critical role in advancing GPU technology.

What are some common challenges faced by GPU Compiler Engineers in optimizing code for different hardware architectures?

GPU Compiler Engineers often encounter challenges when adapting and optimizing code for a wide variety of GPU architectures. Each hardware platform may have unique instruction sets, memory hierarchies, and performance characteristics, requiring tailored compiler optimizations. Balancing performance, portability, and correctness is an ongoing challenge, especially when supporting multiple vendors or generations of hardware. Close collaboration with hardware engineers and performance analysts is essential to ensure the compiler produces efficient code that leverages the strengths of each GPU architecture.

What is the difference between Gpu Compiler Engineer vs Gpu Software Engineer?

Job description

Lennox (NYSE: LII) Driven by 130 years of legacy, HVAC and refrigeration success, Lennox provides our residential and commercial customers with industry-leading climate-control solutions. At Lennox, we win as a team, aiming for excellence and delivering innovative, sustainable products and services. Our culture guides us and creates a workplace where all employees feel heard and welcomed. Lennox is a global community that values each team member’s contributions and offers a supportive environment for career development. Come, stay, and grow with us.

We are seeking a hands-on technical architect to design and deliver highly scalable, reliable, secure, and fault-tolerant enterprise systems for IOT with an AI first mindset. This role combines deep Java engineering expertise with practical architecture ownership and day-to-day leadership of technical staff. The ideal candidate can write production-quality code, guide design decisions, remove delivery blockers, and raise the engineering bar across the team.

This is not a pure advisory architecture role. The expectation is strong hands-on development ownership combined with technical leadership.

What Drives Success

  • AI-first engineering mindset with hands-on ability to rapidly prototype and productionize solutions using modern AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Git Hub Copilot, and similar systems
  • Expert hands-on Java engineering depth, including JVM internals, compiler behavior, concurrency, memory management, and performance optimization
  • Proven ability to design highly scalable, reliable, secure, and fault-tolerant enterprise platforms with clear trade-off decisions within IoT platforms, Building Management Systems, connected equipment, telemetry environments
  • Lead from the front by setting technical direction, reviewing designs and code, mentoring engineers, and unblocking complex delivery challenges
  • Delivery-focused technical leadership with accountability for architecture quality, engineering execution, and production readiness

Job Duties

  • Architecture & System Design
    • Design scalable, reliable, secure, and fault-tolerant enterprise systems across distributed applications, integration, data, and cloud-native layers.
    • Define architecture patterns for AI-native capabilities, APIs, event-driven services, observability, resiliency, and performance at enterprise scale.
    • Evaluate technology options and define pragmatic technical direction across cloud, APIs, event-driven services, integrations, observability, and automation.
  • Technical Leadership & Delivery
  • Spend 50%+ of time on hands-on technical work including coding, design reviews, debugging, performance tuning, AI-assisted development, and complex issue resolution.
    • Translate business and product needs into practical architecture decisions, technical roadmaps, and delivery-ready engineering plans.
  • Write production-quality code daily in Java and/or Python, while also guiding implementation across TypeScript/JavaScript, React, APIs, and distributed platform services.
    • Guide engineers through complex design and implementation trade-offs while ensuring solutions remain practical, supportable, and delivery ready.
    • Lead technical staff through architecture execution, sprint delivery, code reviews, quality gates, and production readiness activities.
    • Partner with product owners, business stakeholders, architects, QA, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to ensure technical delivery aligns with business outcomes.
    • Own technical delivery risks, remove engineering blockers, and ensure designs are implemented with measurable quality, reliability, and performance outcomes.
  • Enterprise Platform & Integration Expertise
    • Design enterprise-grade integration patterns across internal systems, external platforms, APIs, data pipelines, and real-time/event-driven architectures.
  • Understand infrastructure layers from Kubernetes and cloud-native runtime operations to GPU inference stacks, model-serving patterns, and scalable workload deployment.
    • Ensure solutions are observable, secure, resilient, cost-aware, and supportable in production environments.
  • Establish strong practices across automated testing, CI/CD, observability, rollout safety, incident response, production support, and operational excellence.
    • Create reusable technical patterns, reference architectures, documentation, and engineering playbooks to standardize delivery across teams.
