Job description

Tiger is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Excavator Operator to join our team, specializing in the installation of underground tanks and propane distribution lines. This role involves working in both residential and commercial settings and on active construction sites, requiring precision, situational awareness, and a strong understanding of underground utility work.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate various sizes of excavators and related heavy equipment to dig trenches and prepare sites for propane tank and line installation
  • Safely navigate and excavate around existing underground utilities, ensuring minimal disruption and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Lead successful daily installation and removal of propane tanks (above-ground and underground)
  • Work closely with crew members to safely install propane lines according to project specifications
  • Backfill, grade, and restore work areas to proper condition after installation
  • Follow all Tiger Fuel safety protocols while encouraging others to do so
  • Comprehend and successfully execute site plans, utility markings, and project layouts
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance
  • Repair and or report mechanical issues or safety hazards for all equipment
  • Maintain flexibility in scheduling jobs in case inclement weather impacts feasibility of work
  • Calling in and verifying 811 tickets as needed
  • Provide excellent written, verbal communication, and excellent customer service.
  • In the event of inclement weather, the operator will support our delivery team as a delivery driver, or they will support the service team in various capacities required to complete assigned work

Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Class A CDL with hazmat and tanker
  • 3+ years of experience operating excavators or similar heavy machinery
  • 3+ years of Experience with trenching and underground utility installation.
  • Understanding of construction site safety procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans
  • Strong eye-hand coordination and spatial awareness
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid heavy equipment operator certification or license
  • Ability to read and understand 811 ground markings
  • Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs
  • Able to pass pre-employment DOT screens including drug screen and background check

Preferred Experience:
  • 3-5+ years of excavator or heavy equipment operation
  • Experience in construction, roadwork, or excavation projects
  • Familiarity with GPS machine control systems

Work Conditions:
  • May require early mornings, overtime, and weekend shifts
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery environments

Salary Description
$26.00 to $28.00
