As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Banking - Equities Electronic Trading Technology Team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Job responsibilities
  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate toil or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
  • Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
  • Understand the requirements and challenges facing our developers from CI/CD perspective
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts, computer science, computer engineering and 5+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Have excellent knowledge of at least one mainstream software development language i.e. : Java / C++ / Python / GO / Kotlin / TypeScript / C#, etc..
  • Hands on experience with FinOps
  • Experience with AI
  • Proficiency in low latency, real-time, scalable trading systems, and familiarity with algorithmic trading, including systematic trading
  • Ability to work effectively within a global team (spread across NA, EMEA, APAC) while influencing and contributing to the buildout of Equities technology org
  • Have overall understanding of 'what's the proper way of building efficient software' - and the implications of circumventing the guardrails which are in place.
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
  • Familiar with CI/CD and understand what, why, where, how, when it comes to using one of the following i.e., Jenkins, TeamCity, etc.
  • Knowledge around building/dealing with high throughput messaging APIs, middleware products

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Be curious about the next generation of modern engineering tools, processes and practices
