We are looking for an EHS Supervisor to join our talented team. This role will help develop, establish and maintain an environmental health and safety program that strives to meet or exceed all regulatory requirements, and provides for a safe work environment that is free of hazards in pursuit of zero work-related/Illnesses, using a behavioral based approach. This position will be based in our Loudon, TN location and will report to the P&C Manager.
What do we expect?
Safety & Health
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Implement and maintain EHS programs in compliance with OSHA, TECQ, EPA, and DOT requirements
  • Lead injury prevention initiatives, job hazard analysis (JHAs), and risk assessments daily.
  • Investigate all incidents, near misses, and safety observations; identify root causes and corrective actions
  • Ensure all corrective actions are followed up and completed to prevent accident/injury reoccurrence.
  • Track and report safety metrics to the EHS Director and general manager (TRIR, LTIR, near misses, audits, training completion, etc....).
  • Manage the workers' compensation program. This includes but is not limited to, submitting claims to the TPA, scheduling doctor visits and follow-up visits for injured employees, frequent communication with TPA and EHS Director, checking in on injured workers, facilitating work restrictions in conjunction with department managers.
  • Provides technical assistance to management and staff as needed regarding compliance requirements for OSHA & EPA.
  • Interface professionally with representatives of government regulatory agencies, local emergency response organizations and various external and internal compliance auditors.
  • Managing the online training platform for the site that includes scheduling, running various reports on a weekly basis and maintaining the active roster in conjunction with P&C.
  • Conduct regular (daily) audits of all departments to monitor personnel and workspace improvements.
  • Assist with the new employee orientation process and ensure completion of EHS training for all employees.
  • Use data to make recommendations on changes to training programs, SOPs, JSAs, and tools to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Coordinate with appropriate industry-related vendors and SMEs, related to the EHS needs of the organization.
  • Manage and lead all monthly/annual reporting to TECQ, EPA, OSHA, etc. to ensure that the organization is current on all relevant environmental compliance areas. This includes leading environmental compliance efforts and monitoring permit requirements.
  • Act as the EHS subject matter expert, responding to questions from leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Implement and monitor occupational safety focused programs designed to protect the health and well-being of employees, contractors, and visitors
  • Conduct daily risk assessments and safety audits to identify and address potential hazards that could lead to injuries or health issues
  • Ensure the development and delivery of safety training programs that address specific workplace hazards, including emergency response, first aid, and equipment safety are being followed by completing daily and weekly audits and providing feedback to management.
  • Promote mental and physical well-being by incorporating wellness initiatives and stress-reduction programs into the safety culture
  • Plan and lead monthly management and safety committee meetings for the organization.
  • Conduct regular PPE assessments
  • Formulate and deliver safety training and presentations which include topics such as LOTO, PIT, Confined Space, Fall protection, Electrical safety, EAP, HAZCOM, Etc.
  • Help conduct ergonomic assessments of equipment, workstations, etc. as needed.

Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, including OSHA and other federal, state, or local standards
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations, ensuring the organization adheres to the latest safety requirements and best practices
  • Prepare and submit required safety reports and documentation for regulatory agencies and management as needed
  • Prepare and submit required environmental reports and documentation to regulatory agencies and management such as TECQ and EAP.
  • Develop corrective action plans when non-compliance or safety concerns arise, ensuring that issues are addressed in a timely manner

What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or a related field (preferred)
  • ASP or CSP certification is a plus.
  • 5+ years of EHS experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proven experience in safety management, risk assessment, safety compliance and environmental compliance
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state safety & environmental regulations and industry best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence employees at all levels
  • Ability to analyze safety data and generate reports
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to safety management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
