Job Summary:

CETCO (Colloid Environmental Technologies Company), a division of Minerals Technologies Inc., is seeking a Technical Sales Manager.  This candidate will be responsible to execute our sales and marketing plan throughout “the territory” for Drilling Products. 

  • Increase revenue and reach sales targets for all distribution markets by:
    • Grow distribution network to support the business goals
    • Working with existing distributors to increase market share
    • Supporting distributors at industry events
    • Expand direct sales to large contractors at discretion of TSM & the Sales Director
  • Manage and grow a pipeline of opportunities. Utilize strategic selling techniques to optimize success.
  • Provide on-site technical support to contractors, distributors and project owners.  This includes working on active construction sites in a teaching role.
  • Educate engineering firms on CETCO products through regular contact and presentations. Provide technical support to get CETCO products specified on bids
  • Increase brand awareness by representing CETCO at local and national conferences and tradeshows.  Educate distributors, contractors, engineers and project owners by presenting at industry specific seminars and for continuing education events for associations and government regulatory bodies;
  • Meet and develop relationships with contractors by scheduling and teaching “drilling fluid schools” regularly at a local, regional and national level;
  • Work independently to plan, organize and manage territory travel schedule within assigned budget;
  • Define and manage territory goals and provide Sales Director with an up to date forecast based on opportunities, information from customer base, industry data, and economic trends;
  • Develop, execute and evolve sales strategy to achieve assigned monthly and annual sales targets;
  • Manage daily activities of the sales cycle including sales calls, quotes and follow ups;
  • Provide a report of weekly activities and territory trends to the Sales Director;
  • Develop new business through leads, cold calling, networking and prospecting;
  • Document customer interactions and opportunities in Customer Relationship Management program (CRM);
  • Work with sales support, accounts receivable, lab personnel and other corporate departments to provide for customer requirements;
  • Provide input and participate in product development.

Qualifications/Requirements

Education:       Bachelor’s degree in the Sciences, Business or Marketing or industry relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Experience in selling to distribution networks is preferred. Strong presentation, public speaking and communication skills are mandatory.  Ideal candidate will also be proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM programs.   Ideal candidate will be self-motivated, flexible and possess the ability to work within a team environment.  A proven track record of experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously is necessary. Drilling industry experience is desirable.   Candidates must be fluent in English. Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish is highly desirable.

Travel:      40-60% travel at times

Working Conditions: Working conditions may require moderate lifting for up to 25kg at any given time.  Work requires regular travel and requires regular multi-night travel as well as occasional weekend and/or evening work. 

Safety: A new employee hired to perform the duties of this position is required to be provided New Employee Training by a qualified individual or through the online training system.  Additionally, an employee must be provided with further training if a job duty/task has changes that will affect the health and safety aspects of that employee’s position.

Additional refresher safety training will be required as management deems appropriate or as dictated by government regulations.
